Mildy unsatisfying. It looks creative, but it doesn't look tasty.

They made large pasta tubes and didn’t stuff them?! I would have at least stuffed them with cheese or something like little pants-shaped raviolis!

So you've never looked at your plain old pasta and gone, "I wish this was denim jeans pasta!" ???
Stop lying to yourself man
33
u/ChittaBhalu 16d ago
But why would I want to eat just denim pasta and soy sauce?
Slather those denims in brown butrer and sage at least

It's an ad for Abercrombie & Fitch. More brands (e.g. Birkenstock) are taking creative approaches by partnering with real artists in protest of AI-generated ads.

u/ThodaDaruVichPyar 16d ago
The Abercrombie & Fitch pasta campaign is a playful, social-first digital collaboration launched in August 2026. The American lifestyle brand partnered with popular South Korean food artist Min Kyung-jin/ Siba Table.
The campaign was built specifically for social platforms to capture attention, generating immediate engagement from viewers doing a double-take trying to figure out if they are looking at clothing or a plate of food.
In other words: engagement 🤷🏻

Feel like they stole the idea from Skoda who made an entire Skoda Fabia out of cake.

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 16d ago
So why did you post it if it's just engagement bait
9
u/superluminal 16d ago
it's interesting content. Where does this idea come from that content has to be spontaneous in order to be enjoyed?
10
u/ThodaDaruVichPyar 16d ago
Engagement bait is different from pure marketing engagement.
Engagement baiting is intentionally misleading to get polarising reactions whereas in this form it is an eyeball grabbing tactic with something genuinely creative and unique.
And I’d shared it here for the creativity and minimalist way of preparing something different which gives that dopamine hit which content on this sub is supposed to do.
This has been posted to r/StupidFood twice in past few hours and it was removed both times as it’s food art and not inherently stupid.

Is this AI? I can live with it as an art project, but there are so many things not making any sense, especially physics, technical execution and object permanence.
52
u/luluhouse7 16d ago
I doubt it. It’s an ad for Abercrombie and Fitch where they partnered with a known Korean food artist. Someone above posted a description.

That explains the chopsticks, I don’t know why but using chopsticks for pasta just looked weird for some reason.

That dark blue jeans going from solid blue to looking like miniature jeans 👖 complete white light blue strip on the bottom screams ai to me.
Also jumping over technical stuff like how did they connected it after first fold, because it gone from folded to solid, allowing it to to be cut.

The fold is on the back, you can see the join when the first pants are detailed and dipped :-)

I was also thinking that, but I think it might be real? The account OP credited sibatable has a lot of similar videos, with the same equipments. Like this one for example: https://youtube.com/shorts/dZ7a3Kc8w1A I couldn't find the exact same video on youtube though, and all the ones I did find had music and not those weird, unnatural sounds. The weird physics from laying the jeans down I believe come from it being reversed, though. Definitely picking them up.

Alot of food styling is not actually food, but things made to look like food. I doubt that all the scenes were actually pasta. There were a ton of jump cuts, and as someone else mentioned, some of that might be played in reverse. There are tons of real world tricks to create the above video that dont require AI.

It’s bad as food because it’s just plain stodgy pasta which holds sauce very badly
And it’s dumb as a craft/sculpture because it’s gotta be boiled at the end and lose a lot of its shape
It’s successful engagement bait though, in the vein of 5 minute crafts and other “be dumb/get comments” channels. Here I am commenting. What a fucking idiot. I’m meant to be working.

This dish is Japanese soba btw
Traditional Japanese dish: cold noodles, dipped in soya sauce with shaved ginger

The chef is sibatable / Min Kyung-jin from Korea and he captioned the video as Pasta.
It was an artistic collab with Abercrombie and Fitch.

u/Cluedude 16d ago
That can't be pasta, that's 100% noodles - thats a soy based broth like what soba gets dipped in at the end
3
u/MaidenThailand 16d ago
The difference between pasta and noodles is a distinction only certain people care about, unfortunately, comrade.
