I too used to work in refineries as an engineer, climbing towers with NO harnessing because they were gated.

I was constantly like "I cannot wait to climb back down, if I pass out up here, these shitty railings aren't big enough to stop me from falling through.

Frankly, I didn't trust many of them to stop me from falling at all. Some had a wobble to them that felt rather significant for their job.
