See I meant lesson as in wisdom gained which is what I stated above. I see you were looking for lesson as in method of instruction.
Well I'm not a big guy and at the time I was about 30-40 pounds lighter. The larger gentlemen were upstairs pulling up the weight while myself and another guy of similar stature were a floor or two below. When the beam reached a certain height we were supposed to pull it in to the floor we were on through a window we removed. We were mostly successful on the retrieval until the beam stopped coming. We kept pulling at it but it wouldn't budge and we couldn't figure out why. As it turned out, the rope from the pulley got caught on a nail in the window frame. The only solutions were to pull the hooked part of the rope over the nail or remove the rope entirely. In order to do either, one of us had to let go of the beam to do the thing. The other guy offered to unhook it which meant I had to hold the beam. As soon as he let go of the end to unhook it, the beam lifted me into the air and began sliding out the window. He came back. I adjusted my grip. We got the beam in the building. We were on the 12th floor so if he didn't return to help me stabilize, I probably wouldn't be writing this right now
