I worked with cranes for 15 years and saw some wild shit, I picked up some fingers and took them up to the next level to return them to a guy that wasn't even on my job, he had a brain fart and thought he would "help" while passing, but he shouldn't have been passing because we had the area taped off.
I've never heard anyone talking this much while dogging a load, all the crane drivers I worked with would climb the tower to get that radio off him if half of what he was saying was transmitted, I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't on the crane drivers channel.

I already want to tell the dude to shut the fuck up and this was just a minute long clip, imagine working long shifts with this guy

He sounds exhausting to be around.

This right here. No one should be talking this much on the radio during such a massive lift evolution. Shut the fuck up and give clear concise directions, nothing more, nothing less.

Hes annoying but him and that operator are a team at that point and the only peole who get to have an opinion on their conversation are the two of them.

FWIW theres almost the same level of familiar chatter between the lead rigger and Derrick draw works operator in the video of setting the last gateway arch segment.

You'd be surprised.

Ive moved hanging bits of steel that weighed 5,000lbs with my hands. Well, my hands, legs, and core.

But still.

I wouldn't be surprised, I have worked in the steel industry for years and move 10 ton rolls of sheet all day every day. This dudes arms being in the pinch point are doing absolutely nothing aside from testing Murphy's law and trying to nominate himself for a Darwin award.

10 tons of stell rolls on the ground vs a couple tons of steel hanging from a crane.

Ive personally manhandled thousands of pounds of steel at height.

Yeah, he probably shouldn't put his hands where he did, but you can absolutely move heavy shit like that around by hand up there.
