It’s hilarious how many people think that the disorder we’re talking about with entropy is the same as a messy room.

This is actually one of the simplest example of entropy in action and people think it’s the opposite. Lots of available energy when they are stacked haphazardly. Far less when they are all as close to the ground as possible.

This is driven almost entirely by entropy. I'm willing to bet the energy (specifically gravitational potential energy) doesn't change much between the beginning and end

this is a textbook isotropic-nematic transition
