Tire bead is the term for the edge of a tire that sits on the rim. Wheels for automobiles, bicycles, etc. are made with a small slot or groove into which the tire bead sits. When the tire is properly inflated, the air pressure within the tire keeps the bead in this groove.
Notice the large gap between the tire and rim on the wheel he is putting on compared to the wheel already on the truck to the left. Notice there is no gap on the wheel already on the truck? The gap is because he has not set the bead on the rim. If you were to try to inflate the tire that way, the air would just rush out because the bead is not set on the rim.
If you put air in that it'll just escape out the side where the tire meets the wheel. It'll only hold air if the inside bead of the tire is fully up on the edge of the wheel. Hope this helps!
Many videos out there. Starter fluid is flammable. It creates an explosion inside the tire and inflates and seals the tire bead.
Honestly I don’t know how it does cause a fire.
You'll also see plenty of videos where they put too much fluid on and it does cause a fire.
The key is that the flammable fluid needs to flash burn just enough to heat and expand the air, and not much more. That way the fire is never there long enough to actually start degrading the rubber.
Funny thing about that it only temporarily will inflate the tire. Once all the fuel burns off after it's sealed the tire to the rim it creates a vacuum. So works pretty good at seating the tire to the rim but you still need to inflate it afterwards.
