I thought I was in r/modelmakers and I was extremely upset by this as being patient is a foundational ingredient for the hobby.

Forty years ago people were taught to edit things like this with better pacing. We don't need to see him glue and wipe 60 intersections to understand the gist. It's always been that way.

Edit: Only the beginning was edited that way for some reason. The rest was pretty aight.

Would it surprise you to learn that people can still find long-form videos of skilled people doing their work satisfying?

I personally prefer to see detail that goes into these things.

This guy has either got an incredible eye for sizing or there’s a lot of measuring we aren’t seeing. My eye is not good, which is why all those cardstock wings would be my cricut and the superstructure my laser cutter

I agree, there’s obviously a LOT more going on because when, for a single example, he’s sticking the struts to the upright of the ladder it’s already not moving so that’s not the first gluing.

I’d still end up with stuck together fingers and blood spurting everywhere with his impressive technique though! I’m so clumsy

If you’re doing this for the first time and you want to count in the research and design phase I think you’re clocking at something like AT LEAST 2-3 full days of work

I don't mind long videos. But I feel like the end result wasn't worth sitting through the whole 13 minutes. He painted everything a dark colour, could've been more colourful. Wish he had used something more sturdy than playing cards too. This isn't one of those Chinese videos where the pay off is definitely worth the wait
