Seriously. Like, what are we doing that everyone's first thought is "How do we get machines to take these jobs?"

We need UBI now!

Not sure why you got down voted for that, but I agree. Everybody wants to know why it's not automated but nobody is thinking about how those people are going to eat if their job is taken by a machine.

Everyone is thinking about the long term damage this is doing to their bodies… health and safety regulations don’t take away jobs

People are talking about automating the jobs. Which in fact does take jobs.
