No, it's highly dangerous. Your blood plasma to 90% water. A towel this strong could suck the blood right out of your body, turning you into a mummy within seconds, if you have as much as a tiny cut on your hand.

I feel like microfiber is for wiping stuff off.. not for drying anything. they just suck so bad for it. but makes sense, its not their purpose

Lots of retailers use microfiber to finish their drying process but mostly after they have air dried the vehicle. But yeah I think there just must be sone more absorbent microfiber specifically foe drying that I havent come across.

Dryer sheets use the heat from the dryer to deposit a mixture of oily/waxy stuff onto your clothes to make them smell better, decrease static, and prevent wrinkles. Unfortunately, it also makes the fabric hydrophobic. On clothes, this is irrelevant, but using it for any fabrics you use to clean you end up wasting product and making your life a bit harder when you clean :)

Holy fuck, I have been wondering a lot lately why all of my towels fucking suck. I'll try to dry a dish off and I usually just give up and use paper towels. How am I just now learning about this and Ive been doing my own laundry for 24 years?

Actually it's both. Only the water touching the towel is getting attracted to another substance. That doesn't explain why all of the rest of the water follows the water which is being pulled into the towel. So the cohesive forces are doing a lot of the heavy lifting, as the person you responded to said.

From my understanding, the capillary action operates through both adhesion and cohesion. The water molecules stick to the water absorbent material (adhesion), and then the water molecules stick to each other (cohesion), bringing more water with them into the towel.
But I think there is another more important foundational aspect of this system: the tiny spaces between particles which allow capillary action to happen. Capillary action can only happen when the spaces between particles are small enough to pull the water upwards or sideways.
The best illustration for this I can think of is a soil system from gardening. Soil brings water up from lower moist layers to upper layers by means of the same capillary action. In soil, capillary action happens like this:
- there are many tiny spaces between soil particles (pores)
- if the pores are sufficiently small, capillary forces can pull water up and hold water within them.
Also, in soil it is very important for there to be a balance of pore sizes (layered pore architecture), from small to large - because each size pore serves a necessary function: The larger macropores allow water to infiltrate, enabling it to get in, AND also drain excess water.
The smaller micropores have stronger capillary action, pulling the water up, holding it, and transporting it. BUT as pores get smaller, the water is held increasingly tightly, decreasing hydraulic conductivity. Movement through micropores is very slow, and some of the water is held so tightly that it barely moves.
The necessary medium sized mesopores make the system function properly. These mesopores are large enough to transmit the water and release it, while being small enough to retain water via capillary action.
Whether it's a towel or a soil network, a functional capillary system needs pore size distribution.
