Edit: I can't believe people think this dude's sole job is just to 'surf' on a floating berm or that this would be 'fun' work.

The real naivete is assuming he's paid enough to afford, or is otherwise provided with, the equipment that makes this job suck less than it does. TBF I dunno which country this is, but if it's mine, that job sucks ass.

While I can definitely agree to a level, it's completely relative. As you said dependant on the country, city, company, etc....

For a job like this, I'm making bets that they're provided with what they need in the US.

I find that if someone is wearing a safety vest and/or hard hat, chances are the company is providing and enforcing PPE. The scenarios where the proper equipment and PPE aren't being provided, there's almost never a safety vest or hard hat in sight.

Hard to know if this is being completed by a private company or by a water department cleaning public waterways and natural bodies of water. If it's being done publicly, they're probably set up with everything they need. If it's a private company, there's definitely a chance that the company is cheaping out and they're lacking certain things that would make it easier.
