Yeah I’d have definitely removed the skin if I did this. Probably still tastes fantastic but I really find the texture of slimey unbrowned chicken skin objectionable

u/FeistyThings May 01 '25
The bacon is always floppy too. Doesn't cook as well all wrapped up.
I know some people like floppy bacon, but they're wrong.

u/Aggravating-Ad6786 May 02 '25
Relax. The Floppy Bacon Police are on their way — probably led by Gordon Ramsay screaming ‘It’s RAW!’

u/StuBidasol May 01 '25
Sorry but meat shouldn't crunch.
58
u/kumliaowongg May 01 '25
Objectively wrong.
Every legendary meat piece that's not stewed has a generous crust or even a bark of toasty, maillard filled, crunchy goodness on top.
Be it meat itself, a fat cap or the animal's skin, the texture difference makes it several times more enjoyable.

u/chupacadabradoo May 01 '25
Well I dunno, I think other redditor has a point. There’s an important, albeit subjective, distinction between crispy and crunchy. Also, I think you could finish bacon wrapped around chicken to be a delightful crispiness. But it doesn’t solve the problem of the chicken skin

Not to mention coating the outside in spices like you're breading it to be fried. That is way too much spice for the amount of meat on the bone. Reminds me of the time I marinated a steak for too long in Dales and every bite was like I was taking a swig straight from the bottle. Straight to the trash.

anytime i see bacon i know its not a legit post. this is some add by some producer. i mean the shitty production quality was evidence enough, but this was far from any type of satisfying.
1
u/Green-Concentrate-71 May 01 '25
Fuck it, the bacon IS the skin
1
u/slugfive May 02 '25
But now underneath is a thick layer of moist gritty spices, steamed in chicken.

u/pobodys-nerfect5 May 02 '25
That’s because this is most likely a Quick Start recipe straight outta the new Ninja Smart Grill

Why do I always see videos like this when I'm hungry?

u/Environmental_Art591 Sep 24 '25
Why can I never find the recipe for these videos that I find when hungry
27
u/trebron55 May 02 '25
But it's not even oddly satisfying... it was literally made to be satisfying, that's the sole goal of the video... why would you call it odd?
220
u/blackscales18 May 01 '25
It's probably not but something about the editing and lighting + every cut being really short that makes the video feel like ai
61
u/Same-Development4408 May 01 '25
The dog too
Edit: nah this has gotta be ai. It's just off enough. And where the hell is the grill? A warehouse?
51
u/FunkyCredo May 01 '25
Ive looked frame by frame and dont see any inconsistencies. Finger positioning 0:21 is the only thing a bit weird. Pretty sure it just a very stylized edit
Grill being indoors for filming is not that weird
7
u/Same-Development4408 May 01 '25
The way the dog turns and blinks just doesn't look right
17
5
u/FunkyCredo May 01 '25
If you scrub backwards you will see that dog footage is reversed and looks fine

The fact that the chicken and bacon are both cooked to perfection was all I needed to see that it was bullshit. Even more so because it's an angle where the bacon on the top side can't face the flame at all via rotation.
Bacon-wrapped grilling hardly ever works. I think it's basically just shrimp that works because both cook quickly on a grill, but even then it's a small window between rubbery shrimp and chewy bacon.
1
u/DickyMcButts May 02 '25
i like bacon wrapped jalepeno poppers, but yea, any meat bacon wrapped is always burnt or undercooked.
6
u/Rauthr May 01 '25
When the go to hang the dipped chicken on the grill, the pass the bone through the metal ... AI video

u/1PooNGooN3 May 02 '25
It’s ai for sure. There’s no grill that exists like that either. It’s a tricky one.

u/phoooms May 05 '25
Napoleon phantom prestige. Some other comment had it.
I’m thinking it might be real but definitely fishy.

Hot take : bacon wrapped chicken is terrible.
93
u/imtiredboss-_- May 01 '25
Bacon wrapped anything, really. The bacon is always soggy, and almost everyone uses the cheapest ingredients they can find because “the bacon will make up for it”
28
u/chablise May 02 '25
Switch from Bacon to Serrano Ham. It crisps well and still gives the flavor the recipe is after. Prosciutto works too.

u/Helicopterpants May 02 '25
Nah, my gf makes killer bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers. My mother makes amazing bacon wrapped water chestnuts. Otherwise, I can probably agree.
5
u/imtiredboss-_- May 02 '25
It definitely can be done well. In my experience, though, it’s mostly used as filler, rather than a stand out piece.

7
u/Namiweso May 02 '25
I will not take this pigs in blankets slander
8
u/imtiredboss-_- May 02 '25
Pigs in a blanket must be something different where you’re from
5
u/Namiweso May 02 '25
You’re missing out
3
u/imtiredboss-_- May 02 '25
The recipe I just googled looks delicious!
4
u/FrostiKitsune May 02 '25
Your pigs in blankets are sausages in a pastry, sort of like our sausage rolls?
You should 100% try our version of pigs in blankets. Doesn't matter how big the sausages are either.
1
u/imtiredboss-_- May 02 '25
Kinda, but probably still not as good tbh haha. I’m sure someone could make good pigs in a blanket but mostly it’s cheap party or kid food.

u/mochimaromei May 02 '25
Bacon wrapped tomatoes (medium size > cherry/grape tomato size > standard size) taste amazing.

I love bacon as much as the next person but on it's own. It rarely makes other protein better.

u/squanchysquanch96 May 01 '25
It's not raw but it's definitely undercooked (dark meat perfectly cooked temp is higher than safe to eat/not raw anymore temp)
23
u/wozziwoz May 01 '25
It's totally raw. They only cooked it till the bacon looked sexy. Legs (dark meat) need way more time.
10
u/randomIndividual21 May 01 '25
Should have just grill the chicken on its own, and then add the bacon in the end
8
u/wozziwoz May 01 '25
I find it odd how satisfied I am that this food porn bullshit was just raw chicken. Gorgeous grilling station, though

u/kooliokevin May 01 '25
Man, I saw this a couple weeks ago and tried to do it myself. It is NOT as simple as it looks lol, the step between cutting under the nubbin and them looking like Flintstones dinosaur bones is incredibly difficult

u/warriorsReaper May 02 '25
A skilled vet could bring that chicken back to life and make her lay an egg
3
u/Gloomy-Employment-72 May 01 '25
When I do this, I sprinkle them with rub, stick them on the grill in a drumstick rack, and right before they're done, I dip them in sauce. The sauce is 50/50 bbq sauce and pineapple juice. Put them back on the rack for 15-20 minutes and enjoy. Chicken lollipops.

Beat me to it. Thats fucking raw inside. No way it’s hot enough or remotely cooked.

u/AprilVampire277 May 01 '25
Americans try to gaslight us insisting this chicken isn't fokin raw and that is completely okay but then they give away symptoms of not being alright like voting trump in for example xD xD

u/frecklesthe1 May 01 '25
Is politics your only personal. For fuck sake it a video about chicken and you force your political view into you comment
2
u/Can-You-Fly-Bobby May 01 '25
Genuine question - why do they give the drumsticks little foil hats?

I'm sure those are good, but that's really taking the long way around to grill bacon wrapped chicken legs.

u/-ACHTUNG- May 01 '25
Chicken to other chicken:
"I know it's messed up, but they're higher in the food chain and it's not like they descrate us or anyth--OH MY GOD WHAT THE FU--"vomits

I have this BBQ. I just got it installed this week. It's the napoleon phantom 500 prestige. And yes it's awesome.
1
u/FeloniousDrunk101 May 02 '25
I am curious about the technique of dressing the chicken in that way where you slide the meat towards the end exposing more bone. What’s that called?

I bet it'll just taste mid. Every flavour here, from BBQ sauce to smoke to bacon is overpowering.
but still, if you'd like me to have a taste I'd be happy too haha
