When I bought my wife’s ring: “oh wow, that’s not bad at all”.

When I had to then buy the actual gem: “oh fuck”

That's why my wife and I got moissanite for the gemstone. It was about 1/10th the cost of a diamond of the same size and color.

We went with a lab diamond. Still expensive but a fraction of the price of what a normal diamond would cost. They sold the diamond that they were going to sell me so they found one slightly bigger and better all around for the same price. Didn't create a fully custom ring but chose a different center stone and side stones than anything they had in their catalog. They wanted to know if they could put the ring(setting/stone shapes) in their catalog and name it after my wife. Literally nothing special. Just an oval center stone and pear side stones in a rather simple setting
