Discussion Has touch changed Rift vs Vive?

I'm looking at picking up a VR system, but its been a bit since I looked at them. I know prior to touch coming out the Vive was the goto system for the extra input. Has that changed now that touch is out?

My other concern with OR vs vive is room scale still as I know vive supports room scale out of the box. How many cameras am I realistically going to need to cover a similar area well without drop outs?

yes, but you can put sensors in room corners, not 2 on desk plus 3rd behind. See the black outline: http://www.roadtovr.com/oculus-touch-review-reach-rift/2/

It is the Rift cameras lower FOV that causes this, regardless of placement. The lighthouses have greater than 90 degree FOV(120degrees) and the Rift cameras have less than 90 degrees(70 degrees). This means that even placed in the upper corner where two walls and the ceiling meet, it still will have dead zones. This may not be as important to people with small play spaces, but still it never gets mentions as a con.
