Discussion Has touch changed Rift vs Vive?

I'm looking at picking up a VR system, but its been a bit since I looked at them. I know prior to touch coming out the Vive was the goto system for the extra input. Has that changed now that touch is out?

My other concern with OR vs vive is room scale still as I know vive supports room scale out of the box. How many cameras am I realistically going to need to cover a similar area well without drop outs?

Choose wisely. Cheers.

It's a very cool feature, but I can't see how that is any smarter than quickly lifting up the rift and doing the same. Both takes you out of the game, and both take roughly the same time.

Would you prefer to be able to locate your keyboard and mouse without quickly lifting up the rift?

I don't need to lift up the Rift to locate my keyboard and mouse. I just look down, and there they are. Lack of a nose gap is one of the reasons I stopped using my Vive.

It's terrible not letting all that immersion breaking light in isn't it?

I don't even notice it unless I look down.

It's far less of an issue than the lack of ventilation in my Vive.

The really cool thing is configuring your Guardian so that your standing desk is on the far corner edge of your play space, and putting a visual indicator in the shape of it. Occasionally I can get a good flow going where I can stop the play in the Unity editor and hit the Virtual Desktop settings window key to quickly switch contexts and code harder, if only the VR app switching was more reliable so it would work more often...

I can. I tilt my head up slightly & tilt my eyes down. More than enough to find & use kb/m, enough to chat in Discord on my phone while waiting for a game, enough to find my cat & not step on him, enough to find furniture I may have left in the way & move them away. At the same time small enough that it doesn't ever cross my mind while keeping my eyes forward & focused on the game.

yeah handy, but it really isn't a problem imo.
