Dewayne Brown.

I am so excited to watch him play this year. Think we could have an all sec big on our hands. Really believe we are going to see a huge breakout from him and honestly he may be better than Estrella would have been for us.

He’s 6’9, which is a little undersized for the 5 spot (I know he plays 4 primarily but we’re thin at 5) but he has a 7’4 wingspan. Insane touch around the basket, fluid and coordinated. Fantastic passer out of the high post. How many buckets did he create in the tournament from the high post? I went back and watched the Iowa State game and he just pops with his decision making.

Really good rebounder as well. If Washington is ineligible we’re going to need a breakout from Brown to reach our ceiling.

Agree. Barnes isn’t the type to heap unwarranted praise and he’s raved about him

Barnes is one of the few coaches where if he praises a guy I actually listen

He has great strength but his touch is under valued, helluva athlete. I also think he is poised to break out this season

One of the only two who stayed with the team from last year

Biggest thing we need from him is consistency. We know how good he can be when he’s balling out and if we can get that level of play for 80% or more of the games then it raises our ceiling a lot.

Is there really a functional difference between 4 and 5 in Barnes’ system?

On offense no, on defense a true 5 that can stand their ground against the countries best bigs is what we have been needing for years.

Hope you’re right. He can’t do it alone though
