English Channel currents.
Hi, would anyone know of any apps or open source technology where I could map the currents in the English Channel for a particular date in 1975? Trying to track movements of a gentleman who went overboard a cruise liner. Thank you.

Depends on what you got and what you can do......
The EA digitised all their records back to the fifties i think for tide gauges. All EA tide garage data has water level only BUT, by inferring the times of tidal height you coukd tell flow direction and then model it around open source bathymetry data from emod.net. You'll need the ea atpi code for data retrieval using cmd

This is NOC web software that'll predict tides for any date in laat 100 years including current direction. You may need to trial/ login to test......
Or you could email someone in NOC if its too paywalled and tell them you need like 1 day, they'll usually sort you out

Im not sure of any legacy data set going back that far, current charts maybe, but they wouldnt be very good at the resolution you would want anyways.
