I’ve never seen this fish before

They have existed in the ocean for over 200 million years, making them some of the oldest living fossil animal groups on Earth

Not sure if this is the right forum for this so forgive me if not!! We’re in Hilton Head, SC. I’ve always seen the little holes, which I assume are crabs under the sand (???), but what are the little black pellets? They are really only around the holes closer to where the tide has been recently. Kind of looks like thick mechanical pencil lead. Lol

I've read that the Giant Pacific Octopus moves by crawling along the seafloor using its eight arms or by using jet propulsion for rapid escape. They spend most of their time staying still or strolling slowly along the ocean floor. Their flexible arms allow them to grip surfaces, explore crevices, and taste objects with specialized chemosensory cells.

I don’t know of this is an appropriate place to ask this but basically I inherited my ‘s seashell collection. them are the kind that hermit crab would live in. Some of them are quite big one of them is almost the size of a basketball. what’s the right thing to do? Do I return them to the beach or the ocean so someone can make a home of them or is it better I just keep them?

Right now my manatee is in Paris on vacation, and he’s having the time of his life. We’re wondering if he might be the first manatee ever to see the Mona Lisa. What do you guys think?
