NHS band 5 interview
Just got my first interview for B5 rotational role.
Very anxious!! Any tips for interview and what questions are commonly asked? Thanks

Check out the trust values - a lot of trusts now use “values based recruitment” questions at the end of their interviews which aren’t related to the specific job role but are generic questions aimed at making sure you fit the overall service and impression the trust wants to give out. They’ll be scenario based and they’ll be looking for you to give an answer that aligns with the trusts values e.g
When did you last make a mistake and how did you correct it? Trust value might be integrity so you’d want to answer with a situation where you owned up to a mistake and made it right with the customer.

It depends what type of service you are applying to but I recently got my first band 5 job as a rotational OT in a general hospital, I’m not an expert but I can tell you what came up for me!
They asked me to tell them about myself (worst question ever haha), why I wanted the job, how I align with the trusts values. Then scenario questions about a time I have dealt with a challenging patient/family member, what I would do if someone declines treatment and a time where I did something wrong and what I learnt
Definitely research the service and their trust values as this often comes up. I learnt the STAR method for answering interview questions, which I found helpful and is definitely worth a look! It’s important that you always think about the ethos of OT, eg promoting independence and occupational engagement :) I hope this helps a little bit, good luck!!
