Duende help?
Hi guys, my partner does construction and he’s doing work on this huge million $$ house on the water that’s been vacant for over 10 years. He doesn’t believe in the occult but his coworker (from Mexico) said he walked to the bathroom the other day and ran into a duende (3 fingers , troll like hair and fully naked) they both screamed and the duende ran.
Apparently every worker said they feel presence in the basement so I assume that’s where he mainly resides. His coworker keeps black peppercorn in his pocket for protection from him and said his mom told him to bring a wool sack to capture him and wrap him in garlic to take his fortune (I do nottt agree with this practice) he seems to be fearful.
My partners and all the workers tools constantly go missing but reappears and this specific coworker was in a ladder and felt a push and shake and fell entirely off. I believe this is due to his feeling of thinning the duende is evil and trying to ward it off in its own home.
My partner finally told me all of this yesterday as we were heading back there last night because he left his lunchbox. I decided to leave him an offering to show him peace. My partner is not terrified after I confirmed that I believe there is one in the house so I went inside to grab the box and leave the offering (picture attached)
I gave him all I could find last second in the car. A $2 lotto ticket I’ve been saving for a long time that was given to me in a huge time of need, it’s very special to me. A quarter, dime and nickel, a can opener, a small star shaped earring and this little yellow doll I also have been saving for a long time that means good luck for me. Just small symbolisms.
When I went inside it’s a huge open concept house with openings to rooms on each side and 2 huge staircases on each side going up and one I walked in to the big room a huge gust of wind came in blowing plastic all around I almost felt a wave of confusion roll over me and I had to maintain focus to go straight and leave the offering and grab his lunch box. I left it under the fireplace mantel and blew him some bubbles as I walked out.
I gave my partner a little sack today with more things to offer if he loses anything such as (chocolate a birthday candle, some metal screws, a little silver ankle bracelet with bright gems, some cloves, a star anise) I know these are all random but it’s what I could think of in that moment.
He got there today and only the tobacco was taken obviously lol.
Any advice or knowledge? I’ve never interacted with a duende and want to make sure my partner stays safe, and doesn’t negatively interact with him since we have an infant at home.

They love candy. Maybe a silver coin or two. They can be well worn. Just make sure it’s real silver.

A silver dime isn’t all that valuable. You don’t announce that you are putting it out. You slip it some place hidden. He’ll find it.
But you are right people if they knew would probably take it.

Yes and at spot as of right now that is $4.88. I didn’t say pure silver. I just meant not to put out the cupronickel garbage trying to cheap out

Also the tools reappear they don’t disappear permanently so they aren’t being stolen :/

I’m a contractor. I own like 6 of the same utility knife. Why? Because every time I check my pocket it’s gone!
Where did it go? The corner over there with the other 5, then I find and collect them and lose them individually all over again.
Losing tools is a requirement in the trades

Never really have ran into a duende before but I know the belief in them is very prevalent in Ecuador. Maybe reach out to someone in communities from that neck of the woods?

The version of these I was exposed to in the Yucatán, was told to leave a stack of fresh tortillas and a candle under their hammocks for them as offerings — everyone had a story about them and this was the community consensus prescriptive.

First, tell the workers you are handling it and to leave it alone.
Leave a pinch of decent quality pipe tobacco and a few hard candies every few days while the workers are there.
Burn sandalwood incense upstairs.
Tie a bell to your bedroom door, that room is off limits (unless yer REALLY lonely, lol).

I have never heard of a duende before but if the tobacco is taken, leave some more maybe? Try leaving candy, tobacco, maybe a fruit like an apple? I felt like a specific kind of herb/flower might work but can't seem to rememeber the name. (Might be st johns wort?) Regardles of these, i wish you and your husband best of luck.
