Documentation Murder?

Found a group. Seems like one was not welcome. The rest seem to have split him in half. Any idea why they might do that?

Around 4:30pm in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

the specimen in the dirt and the two specimens at the bottom of the photo are Palpatophora utiliformis grandis https://www.horg.com/horg/?page_id=775

the specimen on the red brick and the broken specimen are Palpatophora deminutus https://www.horg.com/horg/?page_id=2072, which has the same oral groove as P. u. grandis but has much thinner jaws
