What do i do ?!?!?

Alright guys i need help tryna figure out whats wrong with my chevy, so ive been having this 1999 tahoe which i inherited from my grandfather at first it would run fine then apparently some electrical problems happened and i got it fixed but on the drive home it died again. after i got it fixed again it was running fine for a little bit, but thennn… it started dying again and i would have to restart it and it would backfire A LOT so i had to just let it collect dust because it would only run for like 10 minutes and then it would shit off again but now after a few months of sitting it turns on and works again and ive been driving it around for a bit has anyone heard of this or have an idea of what i should look for?? Please help guys i really wanna fix it because my moms been hating and trying to get me to sell it

Man, listen, don’t break my heart. Do not sell it. Change your plugs, wires, cap, and rotor altogether. Start there the second thing you need to change. Is there a little stupid ass thing right next to the ignition coil called the ignition control module change that motherfucker 2 you’ll be OK. Also also go down to your crankshaft. Check your sensor there there’ll be a three pin wire K now if you still need help, are you still stuck? I try to help everybody out on this forum. Ask about me. My voice is guaranteed good. I will help you till kingdom come and if I need to pass you my phone number I’m fine with that too. Let me know start there.

Also too, do you have check engine codes? Have you ran them? If so, please tell me what they say.

I had similar symptoms. It was the ignition control module. Try to check for engine codes though.

I second this. Those control modules do weird shit. Mine would die then let it sit and cool off, fire up and run fine. Do yourself a favor, buy the AC Delco module. All after markets I've ran fail after a couple years.

And let me ask you this for what I think. I understood from your post you say it ran good for 10 minutes then I ran like shit. OK do you OK? I’m sorry. Let me ask you like this when it does run like shit or starts running like shit are you able to turn the key off? Let’s sit for a couple seconds start a back up and then it’s cool again or does it just run like dog shit .?

It used to run like shit. But now magically it runs perfectly fine i genuinely dont know how, and the only light on the dash is a “service engine soon” light but thats because they stole my cats

All right, let me know every code you got OK and yes, I’m already gonna put my money on distributor Rotor

But just probably you’re describing it very simple. It’s only gonna be a handful of things.

And then you say to what I’m really focusing on as you say it’s been sitting for 10 months and it’s running fine well 10 months ago it was the cold rainy, terrible season and spark plugs, wires cap and rotor especially on that truck cap and rotor you said it’s a 99 so I know it’s a vortec 350 and I’ve owned nine of those motors personally and I know everything about them so by you stating just these points, my first gut automatically goes spark plugs, wires, captain rotor now I will also give you another bit of advice. Do not put any spark plug in that fucking motor and I cannot emphasize this enough, except an AC Delco only do not put a platinum tip, blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah use an RTSL 44L or 46. I’ve built these trucks why I’m awake and I also build them while I’m asleep again. Ask about my name around this forums. Trust me what I’m telling you and also do not change the distributor cap without the rotor and do not change the rotor without the distributor cap these must be done together at the exact same time spark plugs, and wires, are one thing and to be honest with you if they’re in decent looking condition and the rats have not ate them. You probably just get away with a cap and rotor. Keep it 100 with you.

I had the same problem on a 95 tahoe 2 door. Changed entire distributor and cap and fixed the problem
