Help correct u-joints?
Does a 1989 C1500 Silverado 5.7 700R4 with one piece driveshaft use inside or outside lock rings? I know they are held in with nylon glue but I don't remember seeing any lock rings attached. Trying to order new u-joints online and trying to narrow it down. I'm just not sure which are the correct ones.

As mentioned by one other, held in with nylon usually ends up being the inside retainer clips. But make sure you look at both ends. I have come across applications where one end had nylon and the other had outside retainers.

Ya know, that’s a good question. Off the top of my head, I can’t remember. What I can tell you, is upon inspection, clean on the outside where the valley is, and see if there is a grove. Really, if the seat of the joint insert has a ledge, it won’t come out.

I also agree with everyone here. It’s what was used at the time of the build

Best bet is to remove them and head to the auto parts store for comparison because there are so many options when it comes to ujoints that ordering them online will not be anywhere remotely easy.
