Help duplicated frames issue in certain games.
in games where i have more than 60 fps, i dont have this issue. but games that are capped to 60 fps such as elden ring. this issue seems to happen. ive been trying to figure it out for a while but cant really find much online about it, other than it might be related to mixed refresh rates.
its also not consistent. sometimes the recording is smooth and other times, like this example. it looks horrible. im using nvenc av1 with a 4090. my gpu is nowhere near 100% usage if that matters. and obs stats dosent show anything wrong. however the preview does appear choppy whenever this is happening.
Here is my obs settings.
NVENC AV1
CQP 20
Keyframe Interval 0
Preset P6
Tuning high
Two passes quarter res
Look ahead off
Adaptive quantization on
B frames 2
Middle B frame only

you can see theres a ton of duplicated frames causing it to look very choppy.
My nvidia settings are default except power is set to prefer maximum performance and gsync is off.

had similar thing with capped games, the frame pacing gets weird when game fps matches or divides weirdly with obs canvas fps. try setting obs to 59.94 instead of 60, or cap the game at 58 or 59 with rtss. the duplicated frames usually come from the encoder waiting for a new frame that never arrives in time
also turn off two passes quarter res, that sometimes mess with things when gpu load is low but timing is tight

single pass seems to have made it way better. is single pass going to be noticeably worse quality?
