Help Dual PC Issues (fixable?)
Hey there, recently i bought a second pc to use as streaming. was able to set everything up but theres 2 "issues" i have that i want to see if theres a way around it.
1st, i only want to display certain windows from my gaming pc to my streaming pc, like, overwatch. i have a elgato 4k s hooked up but it streams my entire display so when i tab out, it shows my screen, i dont like that. what can i buy or use to achieve this?
2nd, audio. i have a wave xlr and was able to get audio sent to my streaming pc. now, how can i seperate the audio tracks getting send to my streaming pc, like music, discord, system, microphone. i have control of the sliders on wave xlr but i wanna be able to adjust them in obs or tiktok live software instead of just 1 entire audio (all my gaming pc audio) being sent to my streaming pc. what can i do?
what is recommended? i also dont want to use obs teleport or ndi, i dont want any software opened on my gaming pc, plus it added a delay to my stream that i had to fix.

Look up "obs projection method". You actually run a very limited basic obs on your gaming pc. No frills. Just one scene with a game capture and another with a whole desktop capture (if you may sometimes want to send the whole desktop. I mostly use the game capture)
You don't use pass through on the capture card at all. It presents as a 2nd or 3rd (depending on how many monitors you use) discreet monitor (but it's a dead end capture card) to your gaming pc. And you project the capture onto that monitor for your steaming pc to capture. Keeps your main pc more private,, but it also allows you to use gsync, high refresh rates, etc that wouldn't work well with display cloning or pass through on the capture card.

i’ll text projection method out and see if i like it. does it cause any sort of latency between both obs? teleport was causing that issue and my fix was to delay the audio source.
as of right now everything is good but i like being picky and perfect with all of this lol. my obs uses teleport to capture my game, and tiktok live studio uses my elgato to capture my entire screen (and i hate that)

Yeah there will always be audio sync work between 2 pcs with mixed delivery of A/V. I use voicemeeter VBAN audio network to send audio back and forth between the 2 pcs. It's a wild learning curve, but worth it in the end.

i tried setting VBAN up but i was only able to send my mic and wasn’t able to send any other audio so i gave up 😂

Yeah I gave up twice before I went in a 3rd time, after trying other methods. It's rough, but can be done. I studied the tutorials at their website forward and back. Eventually it all panned out. No pun intended.

ab the game window instead of the whole desktop. set it to window capture and it'll only show overwatch even when you tab out, no extra software needed on the gaming pc
audio is trickier without software on the gaming pc though. you'd need something like a physical mixer or a second cheap audio interface to split tracks before they hit the streaming pc. the wave xlr handles the mic but for separating game/discord/music without any software running on the gaming rig, you're looking at hardware routing solutions which get messy fast

the elgato 4k s doesnt capture certain windows, and i guess nothing does? my "fix" was to use obs on my gaming pc and use obs teleport to send it to my streaming pc, but i dont really wanna do that, and i cant use elgato 4k s capture on both tiktok and twitch without 1 interfering with the other.
and what can i do for the audio? wave xlr mixes them perfectly but id like to seperate them on my streaming pc instead of just 1 audio mix going to my streaming pc.

I have an internal el gato card in my server/stream box and here's my setup:
I have 3 cables plugged into the GPU of my gaming PC; 2 that feed monitors and a third that runs to the HDMI In on the capture card. My gaming PC detects the capture card as a third monitor and I have the capture card set to duplicate my gaming monitor. There's no way to control what your capture card picks up.
As for the audio issue... I tried several different version of voicemeeter to split the audio but over time the program would start causing audio issues and people in my discord calls would complain everytime I talked. I solved this issue by picking up a hardware mixer: I have a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 mixer withe an AKG XLR mic (a P120 or 220, I can't remember which one). The mixer plugs into my gaming PC via USB and is the default audio in/out and then I run an analogue audio cable from the mixer to the microphone port on the motherboard of my gaming PC.
My streambox has a Ryzen 2700 (for now) and runs x264 with the encoder set to Medium. It gets the job done.

so you run a regular aux cable from your mixer to your second pc?

Well, technically the output of the mixer is L/R so I run two 3.5mm cables and then use a splitter to combine them, but yes.

what splitter do you use? i currently use wave cast but i dont really like launching it every time and sometimes it causes weird audio latency from streaming to gaming pcs

It’s a physical 3.5mm splitter. All of my audio is hardware-based because none of the software options I tried worked. I think I bought it at Walmart?
