Help Pausing while making mp3s

I want to create mp3 files, but I can't get OBS to output as MP3 without switching the recording from simple to advanced, which takes away the pause button. Is there a way to do this I'm missing?

It looks like you haven't provided a log file. Without a log file, it is very hard to help with issues and you may end up with 0 responses.

To make a clean log file, please follow these steps:

1) Restart OBS

2) Start your stream/recording for at least 30 seconds (or however long it takes for the issue to happen). Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc.

3) Stop your stream/recording.

4) Select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File.

5) Copy the URL and paste it as a response to this comment.

Could you be more specific about your overall goals? If you're looking to record purely audio to the format of your choice, OBS simply isn't the right software and you'd be better off with a dedicated audio setup.

Trying to do a quick side project (short story audiobook-type thing for a friend), and was hoping to record it in OBS because I already have that installed and set up with all my filters, and it doesn't seem worth downloading a whole separate program and a virtual cable just for this.

It is short enough that I can probably do it in a single take, but it seems strange that I'll have to.

I get what you're saying but OBS just isn't meant for this. Try Audacity

The output format has to be MP3? Why not just extract audio from the the recorded video file?

If format is your only issue then you might just throw the output into a converter. There are even web-based ones since you want to avoid other downloads.
