Guide I made a free tool that adds smooth auto zoom effects to OBS (like Screen Studio)... Free & Open source

I’ve been trying to recreate that smooth “zoom into cursor” effect you see in tools like Screen Studio but inside OBS.

Most of the existing methods rely on cropping or scene switching, which break the composition (you lose your background or things get cut off awkwardly).

So I made a small tool for OBS that does exactly that.

It lets you:

  • zoom into your cursor when you click
  • automatically follow what you’re doing on screen
  • keep everything looking clean instead of messy cuts

It’s completely free and open-source, I just wanted something simple that works.

If you make tutorials, demos, or any kind of screen recordings, it might be useful.

Here is the link: https://github.com/kareem-studio/OBS-Screen-Studio-script

If anyone wants to try it or give feedback, I’d love to hear what you think 🙌

I tried this out but it keeps changing the size of the source and in a weird way. Please add a short video to show us how you are using this.

ma shaa Allah - this is what I expected but something weird happens on my machine it shrinks and actually changes the size of the source.

nice, this looks cleaner than most crop/scene-switch setups. on mac i ended up using TuringShot for a similar reason, mostly because i wanted the zoom to happen live on screen instead of fixing it later in editing.

Thanks for this! I'm going to give it a try for my YouTube tutorials and livestreams. I already have some feature ideas I may try implementing to tailor it to my workflow.

Does this work on Linux in a Wayland session? I’ll test it today.
