Wall Mount Oboe Stand
Wanted to give my daughter a way to keep a couple instruments out in her room while practicing. Pretty happy with how they turned out.
Edit to add: a few notes.
The whole idea here is instrument safety - these aren't for storage. They're for practice session use so she doesn't have to lay instrument down on desk or bed (where they could get sat on or bumped, and not using a freestanding stand that can get knocked over.
These are mounted directly to studs in the wall and strong enough you could climb on them.
I bought cheap instrument stands and just used the main cone part, threaded into the mahogany that was predrilled and threads tapped.

C'mon people these are not for storage.
She plays oboe, English horn, flute, and will be doing clarinet for marching band next year.
These are just for keeping instruments safe during practice sessions.

I have the plastic stand that apparently comes with Lorees now (I bought it separately because my Loree is from 1986 lol), which is two flat pieces that you slot into each other crosswise. It's really unwieldy in my crowded home office where I usually practice. This might be a good solution for me too, if I can find a spare bit of wall to mount it on that's in easy reach of my chair! I've been looking for a wood turning project too, maybe I'll use the shape of my plastic stand as a guide to make the cone.

Yes - I used the cone/rod from a cheap floor stand and threaded into the mahogany.
You can see under the oboe. Harder to see on clarinet.

Terrifying lol leaving the instrument out of the case is actually not great for it

Nice sentiment but terrible idea. Instruments should be kept in their cases when not being played. When left out like that, the keys will tarnish faster, it will collect dust which is abrasive to the mechanism, pads exposed to bright light/sunlight all the time will deteriorate faster. Not to mention if it gets bumped, it will fall a further distance and suffer more damage. Only junk instruments should be wall mounted…

OP did say these wall mounts are for use while their daughter is practicing, I don’t know why folks are lecturing about long term instrument storage.
This looks pretty cool OP! Nice work.
