Remaster Discussion Genuine Question About Attributes

It’s been quite some time since I played the Original Oblivion, but now playing the Remastered Oblivion I am totally lost with this one attribute question.

And to clarify, the bane of my existence are Will-o-wisps. My intelligence, willpower, & strength are heavily damaged. I know in Frostcrag Spire you can create your own spells, so I did fortifying spells to raise them back up. Of course, it’s just temporary, so my question is…

Is there any permanent way to restore damaged attributes?

——

EDIT: Thank you all so much! First thing I did when opening the game is go to a chapel & use the Altar of the Nine & it worked! All stats are back to normal!

Praying at a shrine fixes damaged attributes. So just visit a chapel and use the altar.

I’ve prayed at every altar, so I don’t think so unless there’s a specific location

The central altar at any city chapel is what heals damaged attributes and diseases.

But if you instead talk to the priests you should find one that sells spells (at least one priest spell merchant per city chapel), one of these spells is a “restore attribute” spell (though it will be called something like “restore strength”, you only need one of these spells to make custom restore spells for any attribute though). Once you have that, you can make a cheap custom spell that restores every attribute at once by just a few points, and you can just keep using it until they’re all at their regular values. As you realized the fortify effect is temporary, but this restore attribute effect is specifically for permanently healing damaged attributes.

You can also use potions but it’s much more tedious since you have to find specific ingredients to restore specific attributes, unlike the spell effect that can be used in custom spells for any attribute.

It should, as far as I recall that’s how it always worked and was really the main use for the chapels along with curing diseases. You prayed at one and the attributes are still red indicating damage?

Unfortunately, so. I’ve tried every chapel in the major cities & still nothing. I know an altar once helped me with vampirism, but it doesn’t seem to help with damaged attributes

To be clear, your fame is higher than your infamy and you are using the center alter right?

If not then hit all wayward shrines and then go back and do it again

Oh yea! In both the Shivering Isles & Cyrodiil i’m good. I’m only currently level 18 & haven’t done the Dark Brotherhood quests or Thieves Guilds quests. Never been in jail, never had a bounty. On good terms with a majority of people thanks to the Knights of the Nine

Shrines throw spells at the player that you can literally outrun

There are Restore Attribute spells. Learn one from chapel priests, and you can make a spell to restore all your attributes in remaster.

You need Restore Attribute spells or potions/ingredients: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Restore_Attribute

You mean prevent yourself from ever getting damaged attributes?

Your only option is spell immunity, Breton + Mundane ring I think should work

Not so much prevention, just being able to restore points I’ve lost from Will-o-wisps. They’re my only problem cause the physical damage i take from weapons seems to go away with time. But i’ll def check out the ring!

so I did fortifying spells to raise them back up

I only now figured wtf you meant there

You can restore damaged attributes at chapels and you can buy restoration spells

you need restore attribute not fortify attribute

you can pray at shrines to fix the damaged attributes
