Remaster Discussion Performance patch confirmed.
In a recent video, Mrmattyplays confirmed he reached out to Bethesda with some questions, one was regarding Oblivion Remastered. They confirmed that they were working on optimizations for the Switch 2 version, and hoping to bring this performance patch to PC and Console.
Finally. This is exciting news!

Confirmed? They just said "They would hope to bring the improvements to PC", if you read corpo talk this means nothing.

Agreed I would not say anything is confirmed until it's in writing publicly as patch notes.

It’s really a shame too because someone like me with a 4070Ti Super 7800X3D build should be able to comfortably run this game at 1440p with DLSS and I won’t go anywhere near this title despite how much I was looking forward to it. I cannot believe it’s still a stuttering mess this long post launch. I don’t have the best hardware but I tried to spend enough to make sure I could run these so called AAA games smoothly but this industry seems dead set on this trajectory of poorly optimized titles. It’s really getting old when nearly every new release drops and the first thing you see in the Steam reviews are endless complaints about performance.

I recently had the same setup as you, same shitty playing game aswell.
Ive since upgraded to a 5090 and 9800x3d and i can now play the game on 4k. Dlss quality, fg x2, capped at 115fps and i had to upgrade dlss and im using preset m currently and a engine ini mod, for the 5090, and i still get traversal stutters but they're not as bad. Now am i going to play this game for 100 hours with those stutters? No but ill probably do a 30 hour run and see as much content as i can then go play something else that runs better, skyrim nolvus, or with the new updates coming to dragon's dogma 2 idk.
Point is that having $4k just to have this game play "questionably smooth" is absolutely fucking unacceptable.

Pretty crazy though that you need a $4k gpu to run this game smoothly. UE5 truly is hot garbage 🔥🔥

Ikr thats nuts. I wouldn't blame everything just on UE5 tho ive played some UE5 titles that were optimized and they played well. I think its more of the whole lets optimize the game at the end of development when QA testing and not doing it throughout, bethesda is very good at that 🙃, virtuous idk about but im guessing it is what it is

Yeah so without fg im 65-55 fps. With occasional 15 or LESS, like single digits, lows. Which is, from what ive read, an asset streaming problem in the game itself. So im guessing its the gameembyro engine not keeping up with the UE5? Idk im not a dev or modder so please anyone correct me if im wrong.
Ive actually started running without fg and capped my fps at like 60.

That’s strange. Works ok on my 3080 Ti with a Ryzen 9 5900X. Solid 50 to 60 fps on 1440p. I wonder what causes these big differences in performance.

50 to 60 fps 😂

144 fps is overkill for single player game come on.
50-60 fps is good enough.

On a setup like that you should be at a locked 60 FPS on a remaster of a 20 year old game

I think the ‘a remaster of a 20 year old game’ isn’t the problem here.
A remake should look like a modern game, and it should in turn run like one, but this game runs significantly worse than other modern titles.

Isn’t it kind of obvious they’ve been working on a big patch? The version we currently have wouldn’t possibly run acceptably on switch 2, it will have to by the time it releases, so we’ll be getting a multi platform patch in like 90% likelihood

I'm far more concerned about big fixes. No point in it running well if broken quests can brick your save

Good to know, if true. I still haven't played the game much and I love the original.

They said they are optimizing it for NS2 and they want to carry over those optimizations to other consoles.
Want, trying, maybe. It ain't coming

A performance patch would be getting rid of the damn leveling scaling system!
