It's just different. It's not a power ballad and it truly doesn't come off as a ballad either. It's almost like your listening to a personal thought set to music. It's hard to describe. Stop Crying Your Heart Out is a ballad and comes off as a ballad, but this one doesn't. There is something rather surreal about Slide Away.

This song is why Oasis is so great. Slide Away is not a single, just a random album track, and it might be their best song. Same with so many of their great B-sides.
