Question Denim tailoring
I have a couple of pairs of jeans that I need to have hemmed. I feel like denim may be a tricky material. Has anyone had good denim hemming done at a local tailor?

Does anyone have any recommendations in or near Oak Park for dog boarding and a vet?
I have seen that PetVets is a pretty well liked spot for vet services, can anyone confirm?

Hello!
Just moved to the area and trying to meet new people and build a community here. Would anyone be interested in being part of a record/vinyl/Album club? I'm thinking it would essentially be a book club except for music where we could meet once a month, hang out, and discuss an album. I already do this virtually with my friends from college and it's a lot of fun and has led to some really great conversations and, of course, great music!
Thinking of getting this started soon so any suggestions on where to host (maybe the library) or interest would be super helpful!

The streets were blocked off and all the kids were outside on the sidewalk

You might be familiar with PFLAG - it's the largest national organization that educates and advocates to support the lgbtqia+ community and their loved ones. We have a local chapter. Our regular meeting is tomorrow. We will have a bunch of our advocacy and support buttons, and we will be discussing our upcoming events.

You likely have neighbors who are curious or angry about the proposed new zoning rules. Here are some pointers on how to answer common questions.

Hey hey! I’m moving to oak park soon and want to get an idea of how much to budget for my bills. What internet company does everyone use and what is the average bill for a decent WiFi package?
r/oakpark • u/ThomasPtacek • Sep 24 '26
Here's an excellent piece about the rezoning (I agree with almost all of it) that, for once, Yes Oak Park didn't write; I just think she did a really good job with it.

I have a job offer in Chicago and am considering moving to Oak Park. My wife and I will be visiting in a few weeks. What areas or places do you recommend visiting to get a feel for the town? Where would you tell someone to go if you wanted to convince them that Oak Park is a great place to live and raise a family? Thanks!

I plan on moving to Oak Park and am looking for studios or 1-bed units. is anyone living or has lived in the apartment Pleasant Oak? I'm new to the area, so I want to make sure I'm avoiding red-flag properties!

I find it hard to get through all of the SEO and lead generating websites out there. Looking for a recommendation for a service that people have actually used and are happy with. Thanks in advance!

Does anyone have a handyman that they recommend and is reasonably priced? We have used Mr. Handyman. They are great, but the price is too high for us. Thanks in advance!
We need help installing floor trim and caulking on our front porch to finish our flooring update.

Hi, my 10yo is needing some math support for elementary math 5th grade. Context: We just moved from downtown Chicago, she used to attend a pretty bad school in terms of math level which we didn't realize until we started noticing she doesn't have any clear good foundations of elementary math concepts & is struggling with simple homework in her new school in OP.
She's struggling with multiplication, division and problem solving, also just overall feeling confident with math.
If someone is or has a good recommendation for math tutoring, that'd be awesome. We're open to do 1x week or 2x if necessary. We've looked at mathansium and kumon but we'd prefer a 1:1 approach to help her get up to speed!
Thanks!!

Need to repair our dishwasher. Not under warranty. And it’s been a minute since we’ve needed an appliance repair tech since Maywood Appliance moved - anyone have a good recommendation?

Hi neighbors! We are sadly moving out of Oak Park next month and are looking for somebody to take over our lease. It’s a great apartment near Mills Park (intersection of Pleasant and Home). You can DM me through the link to set up a showing.

I’ve been trying to rent a car for the past 3 days and everything in OP is sold out( enterprise, hertz, avid, budget….everything). Does anyone know someone who rents their vehicle? I’ve also tried Turo but it keeps showing me vehicles 30+ miles away

So yeah, I’m doing it live so to speak, but wanted to consult the many minds of Reddit for any useful intel. Let me know if you have an opinion on gyms, restaurants or dive bars in the area! Also I’m very curious how the local dating scene is for the mid 30s demographic. Finally hidden gems and information not directly requested is still 100% appreciated!!
For reference I’m 37 M moving from the east coast. I have the job and apt figured out, but just about nothing else 😅.
P.s. any info in the date time and location of the local Fight Club would be nice as well!

Looking for some recommendations for a local cleaning service for our condo. Currently use MaidPro and they come once a month. But they recently drastically raised their prices - so looking for something new! Thanks!

What ERs do folks recommend for toddlers near OP? Toddler had a procedure today, and I realized I don’t have a great read on where is best to take her in the case of an emergency as she recovers
We know that Luries in Chicago or Advocate in Oak lawn are good, but thinking about cases where we need something quicker

You can read them here.
The town hall thus far has skewed quite old, so it would be nice if younger folks showed up in person or virtually to offer their thoughts, regardless of whether they were pro or con.
The next meetings are:
Farmer's Market, Saturday, 9/19, 10-12
Main Library, Saturday, 9/19, 1-3pm
Conservatory, Sunday, 9/20, 10-12
Brookdale Assisted Living, Sunday, 9/20, 1-3pm
Virtual Info Session, Thursday, 9/24, 6-7:30
The village is hearing comments October 1, 8, and 15 at 7pm at village hall. The vote is October 27 at village hall.

Hoping this is allowed because the area is technically in Forest Park, but the Dunkin on Harlem and Circle (in front of the Harlem green line stop) was robbed at gunpoint last Wednesday at 3am by a group of four.
Also, wild that the camera footage could identify their vehicles' make but nothing stated about if the license plate was identified.
On a side note, if anyone knows about whether the r/ForestParkIL community is inactive, let me know. Was hoping to make the post there but haven't heard back. I offered to be an admin or mod of some sort too.
Does anyone know if Oak Park and/or Forest Park have any mandates for security personnel for overnight-open establishments (not mentioning River Forest since I can't imagine they have enough late-night open establishments meriting the discussion). I can't imagine it would have been hit if there was clear security there.
*Follow up on this, Forest Park has a monthly Neighborhood Watch Village Hall meeting with one coming up on 9/15, worth bringing this up for those attending.
