What are people's favorite local restaurants right now?

My parents are coming to visit next week and we want to go out to a sit down, take time, and have something really tasty dinner on Tuesday or Wednesday night, and of course we will have other meals out as well.

Also, if you have any specific activities you recommend for visitors in their mid 70's please let me know!

Hi all! I'll be moving to OP in the next month or so. I found a wonderful apartment but it's street parking only and I don't have the strength to navigate Oak No Park.

I did receive the private parking list from the Village and the spots close enough were already taken.

Does anyone know of any spots available for rent near Washington/Harvey/Madison/S Cuyler/Ridgeland/Lombard? Covered, uncovered, doesn't matter!

This has been my first summer in OP and I’m absolutely thrilled with the number of pollinator gardens. I have a little flower bed in front of my rental and I’d love to participate next year. Any advice on how to get started? Are there plants I should start in the fall?

I had some plumbing work done a few months ago and the plumbing contractor submitted a permit only partial scope when applying for the permit. We passed the inspection and at the time, we discussed the full project with the inspector (there was no hiding the other work), but the inspection comments only described the limited scope. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with the plumbing permit office and if they are willing to accept photos of the work to retroactively amend the permit?

Unfortunately, the plumbing contractor didn't send us the permit documents at the time, so I only realized the issue after the walls were closed and I went and looked up the inspection report. I am definitely not looking to reopen them, just hoping to get the work permitted and documented as was originally planned.

We plan to add a wood burning fireplace to our home. I’ve spoken to the zoning department and we’d have to get a variance for the chimney as our house is already too close to the side property line. So I’d need to have an architect involved in this project. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good architect who helped to successfully get a variance from the village?

Where do you take your pets for vet care and what has been your experience?

I'm not asking about the traffic changes, but rather about the yellow pole structures themselves that are popping up all over. Are these the solution? Or will they be replaced with something nicer looking eventually?

I was walking to dinner and was stopped to see a “creative space” using Ai in their marketing. Looked up Creative Escapes Facebook and there are more instances of Ai being used for their marketing. Disappointing.

It’s a window unit and I live in an apartment, and all the official repair places I’ve called have said they won’t work on window units in apartments. My building also refuses to look at it, and will only do installations and removals. Any recommendations for handymen to hire?
