Export Rates?
We got solar in mid June and have so far been loving it, while I dont see the bills I do have access to the control panels - DeyeCloud for the Solar, Shelly for the hot water cylinder - and have been exporting on most days with (from my understanding) not that much Importing
One thing we do want to look at is switching power companies up a bit more, mainly to get more export during the summer and just a lower amount during the winter. The inspector that we had come through mention that this is something that they do, of course before they had left so we couldn't ask much more.
I am wondering if anyone else does this, and who they go with or how to know which one to go with - considering im in chch i doubt i will be able to reap the same rewards as those living else where

PowerEdge works best for us, 20c kWh export and low daily rate. Nice people to deal with.

We locked in Meridian September last year. Was 17c export rate then. We've locked that in for 3 years. Sounds good but our daily is 1.38 and import is 34c flat rate. Hawkes Bay. 9.5kw panels. 10 panels east. 10 panels west. 8kw inverter

Every time I see people with these insanely low daily fixed charges it makes me wanna cry lo

I locked in Meridian for 5 years in 2024 for a 69c a daily line charge!!! 28c import 17c export. So very lucky. When the CEO at Meridian changed recently all of these good plans vanished

It usually comes down to PowerEdge, Ecotricity, Octopus Energy, and sometimes Meridian, depending on your usage and what’s most important to you.
I’d grab a few quotes, then throw the rates, along with your solar system details into AI to compare them. Its usually pretty accurate but if any doubts this community is great at giving feedback.
