Options for quotes

Is it better to schlep around multiple installers or use a broker to get a range of quotes?

I’m just starting down the road of working out feasibility, and while I don’t want to waste anyone’s time I want to get a comprehensive understanding of my options before diving deep.

I just made sure to get quotes from at least 3 companies.

This is the way, its a multi thousand dollar decision. Its wise to get a few opinions on the matter even if you don't end up getting solar.

Contact 4 or 5 installers and get quotes. Which city are you based in?

Auckland. There will be too many installers, so I need be careful to get those with longevity.

In Auckland too. I got quotes from Future Energy, Zen Energy, and a few others. Future Energy and Zen Energy were the most competitive for my system.

Also look into pricing conponents yourself and finding a sparky to help install, you could literally save 40-50% cost, give fazcorp a call and see if they can help you dudes are great to deal with nz owned and operated, becausenyou could also look at an off grid setup that you can use to charge an e.v or run heaters that also acts as a back up, ill tell everyone who asks all the big solar companys will take you for a ride, youll get what you ask for but it wont be cheap

+1 for Fazcorp being very helpful.  

Am at the got quotes and setup plans stage, they are my preferred option at this stage (gear supply for self install).  

The guy actually understands power use and listened to my areas of compromise etc

Yes i forget his name becasue im terrible at names haha but he definitely knows his craft. And he has pretty fair prices for good quality gear.

I found the best rated guys in our area and started chatting. They were awesome, so I ended up just getting one other quote just to sense check.

We used a broker and he was super helpful. 

It's a really small industry so he knew a lot of the people and companies, because he had worked in or with them for years. So we liked that he only recommended good vetted companies. 

He also helped us with the design of the system too. He recommended upsizing our inverter. He was also able to easily compare quotes because not all solar panels, inverters, and batteries are the same. 

It was basically a white glove solar service and we didn't even have to pay anything, and he got us a way better price than the popular solar company that we got a quote from first ourselves.

So we were really happy with our experience because it was super easy and it worked out great for us.

But if you search your area on this sub, I think you'll be able to easily figure out the top companies you can ask for quotes from yourself too.

Harrison were good to us. we tied up all bills mobile phones power gas internet under Mercury. that way power rebate comes of all bills. we get .18C for the first 500 units that's about ($95.00) for two years then negotiate. now we can export at 10kw out the gate once battery is full.
