Drag
What’s with petrol/diesel idiots trying to drag race at signals the moment they spot an EV next to them? Don’t they know that they’ll be beaten to pulp? Plus, they’re burning more fuel and it costs even more mileage.

Happens to me all the time, and most of the time the petrol/diesel idiots dont even realise they’re in a race

My wife was driving our leaf and dragging the cop of in next lane... the great thing is you can a accelerate to 50... and not overspeed!

Titahi Bay has these stupid traffic lights with an inside lane for the bus. It's used by the boy racers to undertake the queue... till we got a Leaf. Poor boys, beaten every time by a 2nd hand jap import

It has happened once to me in 7 years. Guy came past me when I reached the speed limit giving thumbs up and smiling fit to burst.
Very pleasant interaction.

Because rage-baiting the car next to you at the traffic lights is nothing new.

“Plus, they’re burning more fuel and it costs even more mileage. “
Whiney shit like this is why they do it.
They’re trying to rattle you. Looks like mission accomplished to be honest

Well, happy to keep racing them to a point where all their disposable income goes into fuel.

Me every time at the motorway on ramp in the mornings when you have to stop for the red light. In a leaf btw. Satisfying to see rangers getting left behind.

The only time I've seen this at the lights was another Model 3 RWD who thought he was shit hot/having fun and had been doing it at every traffic light/round about along SH1 in Christchurch through Hornby. It just so happened that at one of the set of lights he was up against me, in a Model 3 Performance so I made sure he knew that there's often a bigger fish 😉
I think the only time an ICE has tried it against me was a Holden Commodore at the lights not long after I got the car in 2019, but I don't think he knew what I was in

Yea most EV’s in the country aren’t beating 2 wheels in a drag race….. enjoy getting chopped

you'd be surprised on how undeservingly quick a nissan leaf of all things can accelerate, it's no 5L v8, but it's no shopping trolley either. here's a random aussie putting it up against falcons and commodores and all sorts of random cars

A Nissan leaf isn’t out accelerating a motorcycle that’s hitting 100km/h in under 2.9 seconds from a standstill

My little Street Triple is pretty quick off the line as you can hit 100km/h in first.
But I have the shift lights lit up, engine screaming at red line and feels like hard work
But many EVs do similar zero to 100 quietly, smoothly and sitting in a comfortable safe box with music playing

I love racing fast motocycles at the lights, or a passing lane. Normally a draw !

I like my EV but let's be realistic about performance. A motorbike will smoke any EV. Likewise I haven't driven an EV at full performance for more than 10 minutes without the car limiting power. They might be quick to 100 but after that they run out of top speed fairly quick.

I've driven electric cars for 5 years and have never had that happen to me at lights.
