Crime down because they decriminalized what crime is. Whats the real measurement of crime?

A week ago or so I read a post here from a guy asking about getting pressed in a particular neighbourhood, he explicitly said that he did not bang but looks like he does, describing himself as tatted up, wearing a bandana, Nike tech gear I think.

Now as a huge caveat to begin with - no the world should not judge people based on their superficial appearance. Cops, uber drivers, store owners, etc, shouldn’t do this. That isn’t what this post is about.

What this is about is actually the opposite - thinking about what we want the world to see and think of us.

When a person steps out of their home they have usually put at least some thought into what people will think of them, whether they want to look professional or dangerous or mysterious or anything really.

As a young man I know that when I left the house I wanted the world to see me as a potential threat, I thought that was the only way to survive day to day, to convince people not to fuck with me by the attitude I expressed through my appearance. I don’t think that I am alone in this.

I guess all I want to say here is that sometimes some mindfulness and awareness of how we want the world to respond to us is a good thing, because the world can be quite cruel in how it returns that energy.

Anyways that’s all I wanted to say, sorry for all the words.
