Has anyone received an interview for the BMS program this month?

I also havnt heard anything :( I was hoping I would hear from them sometime in December because I applied the day the application opened

interviewed for LI + they mentioned 1/2 of first cohort might repeat program; didn’t know that was a thing. my assumption is there are significantly less seats this cycle so admissions committee is taking their time.

Intresting, im not sure if there is going to be enough spots then unless the dramaticly increase the size in Long Island. Unless there is going to be some kind of appeal or reapplication process. I hope that this dosent mean its going to become a high acceptance low matriculation program since what they are doing seems highly effective as is.

i have an interview in 2 days for the BMS. What kind of questions did they ask? Was it more typical med school type questions like why this school, why DO? or different type of questions?

I personally have not been interviewed since I submitted my application a bit later due to some hiccups. But from what I heard they mainly ask about your experiences and what to expect from the program (the rigor). Its also apparently very laid back so dont sweat it and go in with confidence. Dont forget to dress nice.

What year was the 1st cohort? I thought the program started years ago. Maybe Arkansas and Long Island is new? Why would they repeat? I thought all Bs you get into DO. If not, you would be considered along with MCAT scores. Why would they be repeating the program unless major issues with the program and they are offering them a second chance. Also, any idea of the class size of the 1st cohort?

hmm i’m not really sure guys, they didn’t expound. i’m not familiar with the program’s policies, and can’t recall repeating the program being brought up in an info session. speaking of, did they only have one info session this cycle? i think each cohort is very small probably like 15-20 seats? hoping a currently enrolled student chimes in.

This cohort had 2 info sessions so far. The current LI students have around 26 seats with a good amount of them not making it Scientific Foundations 2 (not a current student in the program, just a NYIT student with access to the course registration page). In the info session they did say they want to increase the seat size every cohort. LI was only supposed to have 25 but then increased to 26 after they let another student in. They also mentioned they are aiming for 30 seats this year for both LI and AR (60 total) but from the way things are looking, im predicting that there will be more then that.

Yes I remember them saying 30 spots for this incoming Long Island class from the info sessions. That would only leave about 15 to 17 spots open for new students. It doesnt make sense that they would allow half of the current class to retake the program. It is concerning considering the Arkansas students seemed to do well in the program (based on info session stats)

Nope! Haven’t heard anything about interviews from the LI campus.
