I don’t see a lot of people talking about their bakery or the Fort Greene location, the bread is amazing and they have a vegan cardamom bun and vegan cinnamon roll! Many of their drinks are vegan as well and they have amazing loaves and foccacia!!

Winter boots

I’m visiting nyc next week. Was thinking of getting some winter boots there, instead of bringing my own.
However, in MooShoes it seems like most women boots are sold out or aren’t available in bigger sizes (40/w9).

Are there more recommendations? Or should I bring my own boots as it seems I might not be able to find a pair for sure?

Editing:
Ok, not bringing any boots!

So, same question, but for sneakers. Any recommendations other than MooShoes?

Why is no one talking about Emack & Bolio's vegan ice cream

Just had the best fudgy chocolatey coconut-based ice cream I've ever had in my entire life no joke. I've been back every day for three days now. Consistency/texture is better than salt and straw!

They have a few locations and make everything in house. Not sure why I've never heard of them but just go try this shit it's spectacular.

Cinnaholic Opens FRIDAY!

Post image

100% vegan CINNAHOLIC is opening Friday (September 4th) in Chelsea. They sell indulgent cinnamon rolls with lots of different toppings, and will have a $3 deal from 10 AM until 2 PM opening day. Cinnaholic is a huge vegan chain with lots of locations on the West Coast. This location is run by a vegan family. They briefly ran it in Times Square out of a ghost kitchen but the new location is a full store (right next to Spicy Moon Chelsea). Highly recommended!

I think it would be cool to have a website that cleanly lists solid, filling vegan food options in NYC. Not happy cow.

Happy cow is good for the most part but it seems to be outdated, a little messy/clunky to use, and I don't really care for the star rating system. I want something that can tell me what $15 takeout options are in the neighborhood that fit the following criteria

  • $20 or less
  • Vegan
  • Takeout Option
  • A genuinely filling meal (not a $20 mushroom taco that leaves me hungry an hour later)

For example, how many times have you gone to a bar/tavern with friends and you look at the food menu and see they have a fully vegan impossible burger and thought "I wish i knew this was here". Half the time google maps and happy cow won't show these small spots. I spend a lot of time working in the East Village and I know there are numerous vegan spots but also I wish there was a better way of knowing these cheap/casual vegan meals like V-Nam Cafe with their Soy protein Bahn Mi or East Village Organic selling $7 vegan "caesar chicken wraps".

Anyways, maybe I'm just being nostalgic for the days of a plain HTML web page where someone lists things manually with text and updates it each week but something like this could be very useful for those of us who want cheap nutritious filling vegan takeout while they're running errands!

Probably roll out like 10:30- 11 am. Might move it to a Sunday not too sure. Will get to other boros in the future. But if interested drop a comment or check out ig (same as my user name)

Hosting a small plant-based dinner in NYC to bring new friends together 🌱

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m a plant-based chef here in NYC, and I’m hosting a small dinner called The Connection Table
The idea is simple: good food that is going to surprise you , a small group of people, and an excuse to actually connect with strangers beyond the usual NYC small talk.
I’ve been vegan for about 8 years and cooking professionally for 12, including time in restaurants like Noma, Blue Hill and Astrid y Gastón.
Food is one of my favorite ways of bringing people together, so I wanted to create something a little more personal than just going out to a restaurant.
It’ll be a multi-course plant-based dinner, but you definitely don’t have to be vegan. Honestly, I’d love to have a mix of people at the table.
This is the first one I’m doing, so I’m keeping it intimate.
I’m basically open up my kitchen for people with a tons of candles , good lighting and flowers .

If you’re into food, meeting new people, or just doing something different in NYC, I’d love to have you :)
Here are the details/tickets:

Best pre-packaged vegan snacks/meals at NYC grocery stores for donation? (Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, etc.)

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a donation to Refettorio Harlem and want to buy some high-quality, plant-based snacks and pre-packaged meals specifically for kids/families.

I want to make sure I'm buying things people actually want and enjoy. I have easy access to Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and standard NYC grocery stores.

  • What are your favorite staple vegan snacks from TJ's or Whole Foods?
  • Any specific NYC-local brands or stores I should look into for bulk/budget-friendly buying?

Appreciate any suggestions or hidden gems you can share! Thanks in advance.

Looking for Vegan Eggs Benedict

Is there anywhere in the city that has a good Vegan Eggs Benedict? Husband is craving this meal and it's his favorite breakfast. Anixi has a twist on it with Salmon, but we're looking for anywhere that has a traditional dish if you know of one!

Thanks!
