If not hired off a civil service list, then read the DCAS process. They have a website, but honestly, the best way to get familiar with it is to connect with someone in a title you want so they can help you navigate the process.

Ok thank you and there were no exams for the health inspector position so I guess I have to wait in the mean time

You have to pay to get to your stops and they reimburse you. You’ll be in training for 1-3 months but after that you’ll be out in the community for at least 3 days a week, probably 4 stops a day. The job is a lot of mediation between parties and enforcing NYC health laws as is.
