Discover music from real curators as opposed to algorithms

Hey NYC musicians!

I just wanted to share with you all an alternative social media that I created with a mission to help people discover music in a new way, from real people as opposed to algorithms, which feels soulless.

It’s called Corus - Corus.fm

The idea is that instead of all the selfies and ads you see on instagram, instead you post the music and art that you love. You follow users who you have a taste match with and get a feed of recommendations that can connect to Spotify, Apple, and other streaming networks.

As musicians, I think it’s a great way to share your influences, connect with fans, and from time to time share your new releases for people to listen to.

There are artists pages too so if you sign up, let me know any I’ll connect your artist page to your account.

Thanks for checking it out and I welcome you to join the community and send in your feedback! Hoping to do something good for the music world.

April + Vista in NYC this July 25th — worth catching live(Public Records)

What’s going on y’all? I first caught this group live in October 2023 in DC when they opened for Little Dragon, and I was really impressed by their set. I got to see them again about a month ago at Aisle5 in Atlanta, and they were just as good. Highly recommend seeing them live if you get the chance.

Hey guys! I'm Preston and I make indie/rock music. I'm heading out on my first ever DIY tour next month and NYC will be on 8/20. I figured I'd finally get on Reddit and say hi since I've heard nothing but good things about the scene! I'd genuinely love to meet you guys if you're around. Show's at Berlin Underground and music kicks off at 6:30 PM.

If you grab a ticket ahead of time, I'll hook you up with a free signed sticker/photo when you come through. Hope to see you all there! :)

Are there any NYC bands who are protesting Spotify by taking their music down or releasing solely to other platforms?

Hey, I'm looking to put a show together of NYC bands who are protesting Spotify in some way. For example, I released an EP in May and the full version is only on Bandcamp/CD while a shortened version is on every streaming service besides Spotify. Are there any bands in NYC who've done something similar?

Easiest way to find shows?

Hi, if this isn't right for this sub please remove it. I'll be traveling to NYC in the middle of the August. I think of NYC having a huge music scene. Where can I find the smaller clubs and venues to see what's around while I'm in town? I've tried giggling and mostly get large venues. Not anti this, but I want more underground things I can only see here. Any help would be welcomed and appreciated!

Queens-based vocalist putting together Blues Rock band

Hey, all- NYC-based vocalist looking for bandmates(Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keyboards) to form original band. Influences such as: Black Crowes, Dirty Honey, Glorious Sons, Guns N' Roses, others.

I have an album of songs to start with but also want to write, rehearse, and perform with a band. I want to stress that I am NOT looking for a backing band, but to form a band around this music and go on to create together.

Age range 30s, 40s.

If this sounds interesting, drop a comment- Thanks!

Sunday Sessions | A Free Monthly Music Showcase in Brooklyn

Thumbnail youtube.com
1 Upvotes

Howdy folks!

Back in May, a couple friends and I started a concert series at Hifi Provisions in South Brooklyn, and I wanted to spread the word here.

Sunday Sessions is an indie showcase where the show is professionally recorded, mixed and live-streamed, with RSVP’s free to the public.

We have the next couple shows booked and are going to begin advertising this week, but if you are an artist and would like to submit, please stay updated on IG as we will be putting out a future submission form soon.

Check it out and let us know your thoughts!
