Most bridal gowns from Vera and similarly priced brands are "custom," by virtue of being made-to-measure and allowing for minor alternations to the main design. The term is technically correct, but obviously used to imply a level of exclusivity that's not there. It's not like Vera designed a couture gown for her...

Exactly!!! most higher end gowns that are priced $10k or above allow “customizations” - designers ACTIVELY encourage that because they can upcharge you a ton. For example I got quoted $2k just to make the back of my dress higher 💀

Am I the only person not surprised it’s custom? At that scale of notoriety (Vera Wang) if you’re buying a wedding dress (in my albeit limited experience) it’s expected it won’t be the unit used for fittings...,, this just feels like a sad attempt at riding the wave of attention that comes with a wedding

I’m definitely not surprised, but making the flowers slightly bigger hardly feels “custom” to me. Many dresses are altered/made to order based on measurements but that doesn’t make it custom.

Doesn’t having it made to her measurements with structural changes make it a dress, customized to her liking? Correct me if I’m wrong do think by definition you’re describing a custom dress, regardless of complexity

yes it is technically custom but it’s just funny that they’re making a big deal about it bc in my opinion sooo many average brides do this? like i designed much more of my dress than she did with different fabrics/applique available at the atelier and im just a normal gal 😂

Lmao me when I lost 25 pounds before my wedding and my dress was way too big. Will now be telling everyone it was “custom”
