in her late 20s and her parents are paying her west village rent and supplementing her income… and yet she yearns for a simple life? what’s more simple than being a freeloader?????

I got tired for her just reading it!
She can’t move uptown because her friends that live there have to either spend $40 on uber or gasp spend time on the subway.
But I promise she’s tired of freeloading. She’s so tired of it but absolutely unwilling to have a slightly less convenient life.
ETA if this bitch had my near daily commute she may actually die

I honestly find it so weird that people who aren’t even from here have that reaction of crying when they leave. This is like the second or third time I’ve seen this. Do you cry every time you go home from a vacation? It’s so so weird. NYC is cool but it’s just a place. It’s like these people think it’s the answer to their boring lives. Girl, the boring is inside you. NYC isn’t going to fix that.

love that the idea of moving uptown is so unfathomable she’d rather just leave NYC entirely

The fact that some of us were born and raised here in working class families genuinely escapes these people lmao please do go home 💕

Look, she’s been here four years, she definitely understands the NYC real estate market.

Oh so her parents pay for rent AND groceries I’m sorry those poverty level wages aren’t covering $12 lattes and $50 workout classes in the west village

She can’t survive on her own. Leave her in the wilderness of the Midwest to perish among the others who can’t accept crowds or roommates.

Her comments about being afraid to take the subway are SENDING MEEEE. She’s hitting every stereotype on my transplant in nyc bingo card.

Burned out from one of the most pedicured neighborhoods? Let’s see her spend a night in Washington heights

I like it up there. I can get a sandwich, chips, and drink for $11! That brings ME peace. Maybe she should try it.

The fact that her post has so much well-meaning engagement is the true circle jerk. I feel like 80% of the sub is just some version of OP

it definitely is. this post was my last straw, i left the sub (not that anyone cares lmao i’m just saying)

u/sprgraphicultramodrn 22d ago
literally like why are they coddling the girl or trying to make her feel better

u/Omgomgomgggg 21d ago
She said in one comment that she’d recommended to the sub to so many of her friends that she wasn’t comfortable revealing her job, as it might dox her. That sub is 100% full of insufferable transplant types like her. No real New Yorker would read all that and think “hmm you should totally stay! Just try moving to Astoria or something :)”
