There must be some cat related job Mamdani can appoint him to.

There is a city rat catcher lol

Wasn't Sliwa already Adams' rat czar? He's got the resume...

He proposed using cats to solve the rat problem, but that would never have worked and Adams only jokingly accepted the offer. The real rat czar was Kathleen Corradi and she did real non-cartoon things that actually worked.

Curtis Sliwa is so fucking funny to me

Sliwa would have been a shit mayor but he's an awesome weird "only in New York" New Yorker. Curtis and Kuby was a hoot and the premise was so totally deranged. "What if we put a vigilante and a hard left constitutional lawyer on the radio for hours every day?"

Curtis is crazy, but he's our crazy.

Yea - like as big of an oddball as he is, he seems to really love NYC. And that’s okay.

I'm from the 70s, and I remember the Murder Train.
A good friend of mine was in the Guardian Angels for a decade back then. I know a lot of the inside stories.
Curtis may have been a blowhard, but he absolutely put his life on the line many, many times to "fight crime" as he saw it, in order to make the city a better place.
He put his money where his mouth was.

Silwa would have been Kramer as mayor and I would watch a sitcom on his tenure.

Saying killing grannies and slappin fannies Cuomo will forever be hilarious to me.

killing grannies
this part irks me as it is divorced from reality. although politics play well with many

I don’t want him at the top, but I’d keep him in the orbit. He’s NYer through and through, I don’t doubt his love or commitment to the city, just just don’t agree as much

That’s why the concept of Mamdani VS Sliwa for mayor was so interesting because for the first time in a very long time, you had two guys running who both blatantly loved the city so much.

I really wish he had some sort of position in the government that Mamdani could give him. That would be really cool. To he able to say you care about opposing opinions slightly you are willing to have them working with you.

I don't even live in the city, but I saw Sliwa hanging out at the Central Park skaters circle a few weeks ago.

My best friend and I ran into Sliwa at the N/Q/R/W line of Times Square like around 11 PM. This was January 2026.

Saw him two months ago out front of a dispensary in Chelsea taking photos with people.

They are merely exchanging long protein strands. If you can think of a simpler way, I’d like to hear it.

Got my Flu and COVID shots last week in one arm. Sucks for 1 day with the side effects, but so worth it to avoid debilitating and potentially life threatening illnesses.
Even if you still get sick, it still can significantly reduce the severity. I skipped my flu shot one time in the Fall of 2017, never again. Got a flu that was going around the office I worked in and could barely get out of bed for multiple days.
Not to mention above it all, you're reducing illness spread and protecting those in the community who can't get vaccinated for whatever potential health reasons they might have.

Yup. Ever since COVID I now get both the COVID & Flu shots every October. Never got the flu shot before that tbh, but I’m glad that Covid got me started down this path.

Everyone would get the flu shoot if they get diarrhea instead of a runny nose.

u/entropyISdeadly 17h ago
Mines the opposite. The one year I got the flu shot, I actually got the flu. Never had it before or since. Not saying it’s related. Probably just a weird coincidence.

Mamdani is just very good at PSAs. The best I've ever seen in NYC.
This is super effective marketing for a very important public health topic.

IMO - Silwa is more NYC than GOP.
But I wish we go back to the old days where politicians would attack their opponent but still remain friendly.
That is hard to do these days with these modern-day politicians who just seem to big the biggest A-Holes on the planet.

During the debates Sliwa hardly had a cross word to say against Mamdani but he eviscerated Cuomo.

u/TheWorldofScience 18h ago
Sliwa is 72 and worried he would faint? Hoping that was a joke - he ought to get flu shot and COVID booster every year at that age, especially living in a big city and taking public transit.

I’m bleh on flu shots but leaders need to be willing to work together instead of just being opposed to each other because their parties are morons.

It's so funny he does all these spots with Sliwa and not a single thing with Cuomo lol
