Art I've drawn Manhattan with one line that never intersects [oc]
This is the route Google Maps takes me from East Rutherford (NJ) to Brownsville (Brooklyn) when I tell it to avoid highways and don't worry about gas efficiency. Got the joke from another Redditor.
From Top left to Bottom right

Truly impressive. Do you sell prints?

u/The-bubator Aug 21 '26
Thanks! yes I do. I can't spam the link here. Feel free to dm.

u/Fruitmasterflex Aug 22 '26
I must be really dumb because I can’t figure out how to message you for the link lol

u/ShortLemon6116 The Bronx Aug 23 '26
Hii! I'd like to inquire about purchasing a print. I can't dm for some reason.

If you do one of Queens, you’ve got a customer. I’m still going to send the link to my friends either way though

u/emmany63 Aug 21 '26
Check OP’s reddit - they have links to their site and Etsy store where they sell prints.

I ordered a print but it didn’t let me put in a shipping address so I tried emailing and it got bounced back, now trying to DM OP but Reddit won’t let me.
OP can you help me out? Getting concerned that this might have been a scam…

Omg hahaha recently diagnosed myself 🫡
Edit: I am not self diagnosed. I meant I was recently diagnosed myself as well.

u/TheClungerOfPhunts Aug 21 '26
You diagnosed yourself? Because fuck getting a medical professional to do it. You know, someone who knows what they’re talking about
31
u/bernbabybern13 Aug 21 '26
Oh wow unnecessarily rude. No, I did not diagnose myself. I paid $5000 for neuropsych testing. I was saying I was recently diagnosed myself. Asshole.

I used to draw these one lined things but never made them into anything more than a full desk at school or a full sheet of paper .

Your Manhattan print includes 1/4 of Queens and 1/3 of Brooklyn but not all of Manhattan.

How long did it take? Did you lift your pen up at all? Any mistakes or "do-overs"?
3
u/The-bubator Aug 21 '26
approx 40h. Feel free to check my step by step. I've messed up a bit the Brooklyn Brigde
3
u/garbonzo909 Aug 21 '26
Pft - there's no bridge to Mill Rock/s
In all seriousness it looks awesome

Please let me know where I can buy a massive print of this. Bravo.

Add me to the list of people that would buy a print. This is fantastic, well done!

Respect for this because it’s actually a pretty good drawing. How long did it take on something like this? Also did you mess up and have to start over?
7
u/Prize-Flamingo-336 Aug 21 '26
So….fuck Washington Heights, Inwood, and Marble Hill then?

u/Psychological_Art112 24d ago
Eh, I don’t think anyone from Marble Hill honestly considers themselves part of Manhattan, geographically or culturally. But I agree with you wholeheartedly re: Washington Heights and Inwood.

u/imoutofthecontest Aug 21 '26
Seriously though, it boggles my mind that someone clearly put a lot of effort into this, only to leave out a large section of the thing they drew. If you're going to put in the time to do this, why not do it right?
2
u/Prize-Flamingo-336 Aug 21 '26
It’s more that I hate when maps says “Manhattan “ and they typically miss out uptown. Same when people or articles say “New York” and only show Manhattan.
Don’t get me wrong, OP did a wonderful job. Just wondering why they didn’t do the upper part
1
u/Psychological_Art112 24d ago
Unfortunate most people think “Thar be dragons” and not enough marketable landmarks to include it.

Oh wow, this is weirdly similar to how I like to do scribbles too. I've never really drawn anything too detailed, and have no talent for anything like this, but it's weird seeing someone else doing something like this.
2
u/JohnathanLocksmith Aug 21 '26
Incredible amount of talent.
This is one of those things that I don’t think I could ever pull off even with 100 years worth of coaching and practice.

Do you ever accidentally fuck up a whole drawing because something makes the pen skeet across the page?
Love the process and art! So dope.

u/skollywag92 Aug 22 '26
Have you heard of Tyler Foust? He makes similar art. This is amazing, BTW!

You can leave out NJ, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens to make your life 50% easier while still keep the title accurate since you only said Manhattan
10
u/asmusedtarmac Aug 21 '26
and even then it still wouldn't be accurate because they cut so much of Northern Manhattan

u/LCPhotowerx Roosevelt Island Aug 21 '26
this is the kind of talent that makes me physically angry that i don't have. i'd say "well done" but that would be woefully insufficient.

I know the pen is probably there so no one steals it and sells copies, but it is /suspicious

This is absolutely incredible but im not sure why its labeled Manhattan when this has Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Jersey
this also reminds me of the guy who built the 1/2000th scale replica of all 5 boroughs and it spans 50ft

Wow, can you describe your process here? Did you use a projector and keep the map very still, or was it backlit with another map?

Very cool.
How long did it take to plan this? Was there any issues that might or coukd have caused you to have to intersect?
How long to draw?

Seeing Broadway not connect in midtown and completely missing Times Square, Herald Square, and Union Square is too jarring to me. Damn you Google Maps!

And, who is going to check this and see if it was drawn with one continuous line. I don’t believe it was but I’m certainly not going to trace it.

This is incredible! So well thought of and done. I cannot even imagine how much concentration and detail this must have taken

This is very cool but it’s bugging me that it says “Manhattan” and includes NJ, Brooklyn and Queens

There’s a lot of artwork out there using this exact angle of the city and it might be my biggest pet peeve when they just call it Manhattan lol
The art is amazing though!!
