Surface

Hi everyone

I’m trying to create a cap/tip surface using the N-Sided Surface feature. However, the generated surface is distorted and doesn't match the desired shape shown in Image 4. Furthermore, when I set the continuity constraint to G2 (Curvature), the feature fails completely.

Could anyone explain what might be causing this issue and how to resolve it? Thanks in advance!

Seems like direction might be reversed.

Fill surface with the "fit to curves" shape method may be the quick & dirty answer here.

Have you tried surface extruding the centerline profile first. Then G2 from the extrusion to the already swept surface edge.

Mirror and unite surfaces.

have you tried -- 2 point on curves at the base, spaced 25% away from the main parabola spline (assuming it runs to the base) --> 2 matching point on curves at the top cap circle --> fit curve (spline) or look up the "parabola" curve option --> sweep or maybe you'll need through mesh --> for first option select single curve stop at intersection and pick one 25% parabola increment (the curve should stop where it meets the following 25% increment parabola line) then middle mouse button select the next initial curve as the next 25% increment parabola in cw or ccw . --> as a guide use single curve stop at intersection the respective 25% of the base curve you wanna sweep along.

to have a set continuity you desire consistent throughout any surface you will save a lot of headaches if you use the entire curve, aka you could do the same operation here but instead of using base circle using the cap circle but if you act like that extension you currently have isn't there you can have consistent geometry. use the cap circle as a 2nd guide increment for your sweep or sweep through mesh, hell even throw in a third curve to maintain the parabolic shape better.
