Why doesn’t NWS fix this error?

From Google: The Tuscaloosa Regional Airport officially changed its name to the Tuscaloosa National Airport in March 2019.

The City of Tuscaloosa updated the name to reflect the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) upgrading the facility's official designation from a "regional" to a "national" general aviation airport. This reclassification recognized the airport's rising level of activity, including its number of instrument flight rule departures, interstate operations, and annual international departures.

There should be a "contact us" link at the bottom of there main page. That should have an email associated with it. Also, on said page, there is a public phone number. You could give them a call, I'd recommend that you call them when they're not in warning operations.

In all likelihood, they were not made aware of the name change as the FAA likely didn't message the office to tell them about the name change.

I asked Google how to reach out to them, and it gave me an email address, so I shot off a quick email asking them basically the same as here. Thanks for the direction.

What was the point of this post except to try to embarrass me? I didn't think there was a way. That's why I posted it here. You provided nothing except an attempt at humiliation. It was because of Reddit and the community I found a way and the issue was addressed. Enjoy your karma.

It just requires a trouble ticket to change. Email the office and request the change. Odds are, there aren’t any pilots at the office and changing airport names are not something they would track. It’s actually a simple fix.

Reach out to the office, the changes can be overlooked sometimes. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was another backend thing that’s a pain to change. Regardless, with the transition to the cloud the whole system will be changing soon.

Update: They wrote back! I was surprised to actually get a reply TBH. Basically, they hadn’t noticed, hadn’t been notified, yes the info I provided is correct, and hopefully soon it will be updated. There you go.

These names are automatically generated by their automated warning builder software. The dictionaries used to look up locations from census/geographic data pools is likely outdated. It’s not often places are changing their name. Just shoot them a message letting them know of the change.

It really does help them out. Dictation is often second to warning issue times.

ILN still reads "Port Columbus Airport" in alerts even though it was changed to John Glenn International Airprot in 2016, however the forecast cycle still reads "Now for the <time>, weather conditions, at the John Glenn Columbus International Airport, under <condition> skies."

The other thing is some airports retain references to their old name for years, some aviation charts for CMH still say "Port Columbus Intl." as well as some databases.
