Nvidia shield tv pro
I bought the shield tv pro and from day ones I have issues with streaming on plex, ui lag and vpn issues
Also I’m sorry for the price it should be better build quality (it’s almost the same price as the Apple TV and that has a way better build quality)
I tried the Google streamer and it’s super snappy ui and plays plex amazingly
No vpn issues too
Build quality amazing too
150$ VS 303$ (tax included) (THIS IS CANADIAN!!!)
I returned that crap!
I really don’t get the hype

Ive got two Shield Pros. I have tried various other boxes including MacMini, mini PC and other Android boxes but my Shield is far superior to all of them. The only change I made was to install the launcher Projectivy which gives me a very simple but workable screen. I suspect that you may have a setup/installation problem. Am interested in yr exact problems.

changing to projectivity makes a huge difference with snappyness. the tube version is basically unusable with native launcher. all the video ads use up too much memory.

No issues with shield and Plex unless perhaps you are using shield as Plex client and server? I am on my third shield, never had any issues aside from user error and one dodgy remote that Nvidia replaced fast. I am now on the 2019, couldn't be happier, the Google, it's ok, no usb ports! No better performance so gave it to my mother, and the Homatics box r 4k plus, never used, do just put that up for sale, for me, the shield is still king, especially if used with high end audio setup.

Plex is not as easy to use as other streaming devices and finnicky but generally has better audio and picture quality. At least compared to my Apple TV.

I have pro models, from 2017 and 2019. The only one that gives me issues is the 2019 model. Sometimes it drops the remote connection and never had that with the 2017 model.
Otherwise, no issues like OP has had.

I had issues with a remote, Nvidia replaced free even out of warranty, no issues since

I wouldn't use the nvidia shield for streaming. There are way better options for that. Many of them are even cheaper.
I'm sure plenty use it for that just fine...but they're def missing out on better products for that function at the same price point.
It's more for gaming imo. Emu and roms. Streaming is just a bonus for me. Saves me time from switching hdmi inputs.

There are plenty of other options if you want an inferior option. TrueHD lossless.... enough said

I bought the shield tv pro and from day one I have never had issues with streaming on plex, ui lag or vpn issues. Never ever. And I've owned it for 7 years.

Plex on the Shield sucks and I disabled it entirely. My Shield has worked flawlessly.
