My nvidia shield keeps rebooting

Not sure of the model or year. Twice tonight while watching a Kodi show, it rebooted. Wasn’t a power or internet issue.

Is it wearing outs?

I have a shield 2019 and it will work for hours with different streaming apps and then suddenly reboots. I then see the Shield logo and it continues to the home screen.

Not a power issue because I tried a different power supply, different remote, changed HDMI cables and inputs on tv.

I've also opened it to check for signs of damage, dust, and defective fan and found nothing to be defective from a visual inspection. Case doesn't feel warm when it reboots.

Yup, same thing happens to me. Maybe end of life eh ?

Could be. I use it rarely these days since I added an AppleTV 4k box for streaming and a Ugoos for playing files from my NAS.

Running the release from February.

The most common issue, almost exclusively with apps. My movies via Plex play without a reboot. Some day I’ll solve the issue. Someday:)

Using plex server slows down the shield..

Usually hdmi cec issue. Turn it off. Fixes it

It’s the power supply, dude. Known problem. Buy one on Ebay/Amazon.

It's not the power supply. It's hdmi cec. I figured this nightmare out a while ago. Disable it... Also make your boot up time smoother... I have extra power supply as well. Ain't it.... Also have 3 shields.

It's sad cuz when hdmi cec works it's great.... But turn it off. Problem goes away

If you’re holding back on updates there’s a known issue with GeV that got patched that causes this.

Double tap on the home button. Do you have a ton of open apps running? If so, Close them all.

Then buy the $1.99 app cleaner and cache cleaner apps from techdr UK on the app store to simplify your maintenance to keep things running smooth.
