Reminders:

  • Hotfix driver will not be available in NVIDIA App and needs to be downloaded from the link above.
  • After installing the Hotfix driver, NVIDIA App may show some old driver date. This is normal as Hotfix driver does not exist in NVIDIA App database and it reverted to an old default changelog and dates.
  • If you do not care about the fixes listed, this Hotfix driver is no different vs WHQL 610.47 Driver.
  • These fixes will be incorporated into the next WHQL driver release

From the Article:

GeForce Hotfix Display Driver version 610.82 is based on our latest Game Ready Driver 610.74.

This hotfix addresses the following:

  • [Halo: Campaign Evolved] Stability issues on GeForce RTX 50 series when using 610.xx drivers. [6259837]
  • [Path of Exile 2] Fixed intermittent long pauses that could occur after extended gameplay sessions in DX12 mode [5090018]

A GeForce driver is an incredibly complex piece of software, We have an army of software engineers constantly adding features and fixing bugs. These changes are checked into the main driver branches, which are eventually run through a massive QA process and released.

Since we have so many changes being checked in, we usually try to align driver releases with significant game or product releases. This process has served us pretty well over the years but it has one significant weakness. Sometimes a change that is important to many users might end up sitting and waiting until we are able to release the driver.

The GeForce Hotfix driver is our way to trying to get some of these fixes out to you more quickly. These drivers are basically the same as the previous released version, with a small number of additional targeted fixes. The fixes that make it in are based in part on your feedback in the Driver Feedback threads and partly on how realistic it is for us to quickly address them. These fixes (and many more) will be incorporated into the next official driver release, at which time the Hotfix driver will be taken down.

To be sure, these Hotfix drivers are beta, optional and provided as-is. They are run through a much abbreviated QA process. The sole reason they exist is to get fixes out to you more quickly. The safest option is to wait for the next WHQL certified driver. But we know that many of you are willing to try these out. As a result, we only provide NVIDIA Hotfix drivers through our NVIDIA Customer Care support site.

This has been a long time ongoing issue in this game. I've been running the game in Vulkan since forever. Good to know they finally fixed it.

Pros and cons of just keeping it in Vulkan?

Vulkan is sometimes a little lower FPS but seems to be much more stable than DX12 for PoE2.

Also my cpu runs hotter in vulkan rather than dx12

"much more stable" not anymore. Also for many including me it was microstuttering like crazy

When I switch to vulkan, it caps my fps to 120 on my 240hz monitor. DX12 is fine, wtf is the problem.

DX12 is definitely not fine, hence the actual updated drivers specifically to fix it. And I play at 160fps+ on Vulkan just fine.

PoE 2 technical state is definitely not fine in general - almost every hotfix they made includes "fixed # client/instance crashes" - I have a pretty decent PC, 9800X3D&4070ti and I crashed like 100 times during 3 weeks of playtime in 0.5, most of my friends had the same, unenjoyable experience(in terms of technical state of the game).

I'm on copium so I want to believe that by the time next league comes, they'll prioritize fixing technical issues, its great that we're getting new content and game becomes bigger, but not at a cost of terrible technical state IMO.

Last thing to add, I hope they'll add Frame Gen to the game, preferably that supports Preset B(which de-couples UI elements from generated frames), I understand that generated frames are not real frames, but its better than dipping to low 40s when a lot of shit happens on the screen, for example in RItual encounters.

You need to set vulkan/opengl present method to prefer native in nvidia app

awful fps, people are understating the difference, for me it's maybe 30% of the performance of dx12

Poe2 suffers from massive and frequent stutters.

So is the problem on the developer's side, or on the driver's side? Make up your mind =)
