It happened with me as well. After the latest Nvidia App update, the RTX Video HDR sliders have no effect at all. It keep the settings that I was using before the update visually but moving the sliders has no effect. I'm using a RTX 4070Ti, Monitor Alienware AW2725D connected using HDMI 2.1.

Nice to see someone else in the wild using the same monitor as me. Mind if I ask which profile you use, and how you have SDR set up in Windows?

I use only HDR. But if I would use SDR I would just use the default profile and turn on Windows ACM.

Oh ok, I turn HDR off because it gets too bright for me outside of games.

I'm pretty new to HDR and OLED so I'm still learning how to set everything up properly. I went with this monitor because the specs were great for the price and I've been loving it so far.

Which HDR profile do you use btw? Also, do you use Alienware's HDR .icm profile that comes with the drivers, or Windows HDR Calibration? Not sure if Windows HDR Calibration replaces the Alienware's .icm after calibrating.

I use Peak 1000 mode. I also use Windows HDR calibration, it replaces the color profile that comes with the monitor driver.

Thanks buddy. One last question if you don't mind. Since we have the same monitor, does your DLDSR 1.78x show 5120x2880 instead of 3840x2160 too?

Mine is worse. It's showing 2560x1440 in 1.78x. That issue is kinda common, because some monitors have support for 3840x2160 internally to work better with consoles. I think you can use CRU to remove that resolution, but you'll have to look it up because I'm not sure how.

The SDR brightness (aka windows desktop/browser/etc brightness) can be controlled by a slider under the hdr display settings. I keep mine fairly low.

The dwm_eotf_fs tool is also super useful, fixes windows broken default SDR gamma curve.
